Best Veggie Burger

Hands down the best veggie burger I’ve ever eaten. They make them from scratch on site. Hit the spot with a nice smoothie after finishing the Manitou Incline. Staff and service were both excellent! Highly recommend!

Pros: The veggie burger , Excellent service , Cozy, unique atmosphere

Love this spot

The Pikes Peak Special is my favorite sandwich. Sweet little spot, with a quaint atmosphere. Their GF bread is also vegan, which is hard to come by.

Pros: GF vegan option, Quaint

Cons: Really only one vegan option

CULT

Absolute insanity. Stopped by with my mom for drinks, which were very tasty (chai and a mango yerba). However, when we were discussing heading back a day later for lunch, I thought I’d check it out on the wonderful app that is HappyCow, where I saw the review by kbiebsbaby that mentioned the fact that Twelve Tribes owns the café. They were totally right, and that review ensured that I would not be making another visit! Also, if you’re interested like I was, the podcast Coffee and Cults has a two-parter about Twelve Tribes (episodes 28 and 29 I believe) that goes into lots of detail about the group. They support corporal punishment, don’t pay workers, make members give over personal possessions upon entering the cult, and more. They have a presence internationally running all kinds of business, but for food, it seems like Yellow Deli (there’s even one in Boulder on Pearl Street!!!!) and Maté Factor Café are their main two businesses. So, since buying things at their businesses helps fuel their cult behaviors, I’d suggest not going… the good news is there are plenty of other cafés in the greater area😄

Cons: Cult, Unpaid workers, Overall shady… because, well… cult.

Run by a full blown cult

My first time here, I ordered their Pike’s Peak special, and it was delicious and already vegan without customization. Some aspects of the restaurant struck me as a little odd, but I didn’t think much of it and went back the next day. We notice their menus have printed on them “We serve the fruit of the spirit… why not ask?”

After a very minimal amount of googling, I uncovered that Mate Factor (which is a Yellow Deli branded restaurant) is owned by the Twelve Tribes.

I found pamphlets and business cards for the Twelve Tribes on a table outside the restroom in Mate Factor.

I went hardcore research mode, read a lot of articles, listened to multiple podcasts, and watched a documentary. The Twelve Tribes are a full blown cult with a ton of documentation to prove it, and unfortunately I will not be supporting this business any further, regardless of how good their food may be.

All Mate Factors and Yellow Delis are staffed by unpaid members of the tribe that have signed over all personal possessions to the group. The group believes in corporal punishment for children to the point of severe injury and has faced multiple allegations of child abuse. Look it up- you will be shocked.

Do not support Mate Factor or any Yellow Deli!

Fantastic place to visit

This is the cutest little cafe, I loved the aesthetic and the owners were just so kind!! There were plenty of vegan options from the food to the drinks and baked goodies! I loved that they went out of their way to include others dietary needs!! 🥰 I ordered a hot chai tea with soy milk and let me just say that it was pretty great, the owners were so kind as I waited for my chai tea. I had plenty of time to look at the menu which I believe had plenty of vegan/vegetarian options from sandwiches, salads, wraps, drinks, and smoothies. This is just a fantastic place to grab a meal, drink, or both and just look out the window, read a book, or just do anything basically. It’s calm, warm, welcoming, and if you’re taking someone out for a stroll it’d be perfect to start or end the day!! It’s a great place in town, check it out if you’re in the area! 👍

Pros: Plenty of vegan options , Priced fairly and prepared fast, Warm/calm atmosphere - pet friendly

Cons: Could widen their vegan selection
