Very impressive - Edit

Matcha Mylkbar is very impressive. The menu is comprehensive with something for everyone and the food is well presented and tasty. You must try their signature vegan eggs! Coffee was good with a selection of non-cow milks (almond, soy and coconut) with the vegan deserts looking amazing. Service can be a bit slow but given it was New Years Day they can be forgiven. Around $25 per head with coffees is a bit on the pricy side but then again you get what you pay for.

Pros: Excellent variety, Great ambience, Vegan food which is very tasty

Cons: A bit pricy, Service can be slow

great place for a vegan lunch - Edit

This is a great place for a healthy vegan or vegetarian lunch. I had the kale and nut-cheese on toast with a vegan egg. The matcha latte was great, but the vegan poached egg wasn't really great - it tasted more sweet than savoury. Other than that, I love this place! Great smoothies too

Pros: Great smoothies, Variety

Cons: Vegan eggs a let down

Booming - Edit

We paid our first visit on a very busy Sunday morning and it has to be said that the service was impressively efficient and prompt, all things considered. The vegan eggs had to be tasted and while they do look scarily authentic, the taste was pleasant and subtle (thankfully not egg-like), but perhaps lacking in flavour. The toast was served dry which didn't help the overall balance. The side serve of bbq pulled jackfruit was a little over-powering and tart to the taste. The Sardinia bowl was the standout of the day; very tasty and well put together. Happy to return to sample more from the menu.

Pros: Creativity

Cons: Noisy, Pricey

Cacophonic corner - Edit

Sardinia longevity bowl was very well done, best gnocchi that I have ever eaten!
Drinks (Mushroom latte & iced Matcha latte) were okay.
Sweet potato chips were well prepared/crispy, but difficult to eat due to being dry (air-fried perhaps?).
Mock eggs meh
Pulled Jackfruit was sour.

Many other things of interest on the menu though; keen to go back and try smoothies, more longevity bowls, the 2nd social influencer and possibly the black bean and quinoa burger in the charcoal bun o.O

Better to look at than eat - Edit

There's a misbalance between how great the food looks and how... okay it is. The food that you get just can't really justify the wait and the prices. The puns are pretty good, though, and props to the owners for managing to import in scientifically impossible water from another universe.

Pros: The food is truly Instagram-worthy

Cons: Slow service, Not cheap

overvalued, underwhelming - Edit

I visited this restaurant 2 days ago and found it terrible value. The food was very average and the service slow but my main complaint is it is very, very expensive for what it is. I wonder what my portion size would have been had I not ordered 3 extra side dishes.

Pros: A couple of friendly staff, light, bright and clean premises

Cons: very small portion sizes for the price, slow service

slow service, nice food - Edit

After hearing only good things I decided to visit @matcha_mylkbar for lunch today. I ordered the Loma Linda Longevity Bowl with "excuse me, but I find you very appealing " smoothie, my wife ordered the vegan eggs on toast. The ambience of the cafe was nice, friendly staff, some thought has been taken to attention to detail. Weighted cutlery, labelled jugs of water highlighting its purity. It took 29 minutes for our food to arrive 😪. It didn't appear that busy although most tables were occupied. My wife's meal looked bare. Plain toast with one egg on top. We asked for some avocado to have with it (it looked rather dry). However it took so long for it to arrive the plate was empty by then. 😂 My meal & smoothie was tasty & filling. When paying the bill I was asked how was everything, so I explained the above, to which she replied "sorry about that " which seemed trite and rehearsed. Oh well, I really want to support vegan cafes, so I'll probably come back for another try.

Pros: health focus , completely vegan , interesting menu

Cons: slow service , pricey

Just. WOW. - Edit

Came here expecting to squander cash on an expensive, trendy, hipster gimmick - departed as a new convert to trendy, expensive, hipster gimmicks!!! Not sure what happened to the customers below (can only assume they've lifted their game since?) but was pleasantly surprised by absolutely impeccable service, tasty and uniquely designed meals and a great vibe. Although $20 for a main is beyond my usual budget, would come here again for the delicious food, fantastic service and pumping atmosphere.

Cons: Prices at the upper echelons of the veganic budget, queue for service but well organised waiting list

Incredible vegan food! - Edit

Absolutely love this place! So much creative food, and all vegan. Very popular as it is so revolutionary, but definitely worth paying a visit. My non-vegan family found it "too hardcore" but that's what we're about right?!

Pros: Tastes amazing, Great atmosphere , Awesome presentation

Cons: You may have to wait for a table on busy days

Expensive, but make very good smoothies - Edit

The smoothie I had was one of the ever (green smoothie 'lettuce know'), but the service was horrible. Waited for a long time, was offered someone elses drinks a few times, and they didn't give me the correct cake I wanted for takeaway. At least the cake was good in the end, so that was positive. Wanted to have warm food for takeaway, bu they don't do that apparently. It's still a good option when you are at the Luna Park or in St. Kilda and want some vegan food.

Pros: Good cake and smoothies, Location

Cons: Expensive, Disorganized service

Bad service, hot drinks okay - Edit

Stopped in here to try the range of hot drinks. It's in a good location so they get a lot of street traffic and it was pretty busy even though it was a weekday afternoon.

We ordered the white chocolate matcha (a special) and the carrot cake latte. Waited 15-20 minutes and then asked the staff about the order and she said she never got it. I said we had to go and we would cancel the order. She offered to give us the drinks for free and as takeaway so we accepted. The white chocolate matcha was really good, but it has a strong matcha taste so if you're not a big fan you might not like it. The carrot cake latte was kinda sweet but didn't taste like much of a latte, needed some more plant-based milk. It also wasn't very hot which was strange because they had just made it and the matcha drink was definitely hot enough.

Willing to give it another try and try the poached eggs sometime because that sounds pretty inventive. Music was also a bit too loud.

Pros: All vegan, Creative hot drink options

Cons: Poor service, Latte wasn't very hot

Expensive but fancy - Edit

Came here recently with a friend. I had a smoothie (Free the Nibs) which was tasty and well presented, but along the lines of something I regularly make for myself, and not cheap at $12.

My friend had the vegan eggs with the spiced guac meal. It was beautifully presented, and my friend was nice enough to let me try the eggs. The white, especially the texture, seemed very close to how I remembered a boiled egg. The yolk, however, tasted distinctively of sweet potato.

I would come here again, but probably not in a hurry.

Pros: Very nice food presentation

Cons: Expensive

Good food but not cheap - Edit

When we arrived at this place on a Sunday lunchtime there was a wait of an hour and a half. We stuck around and a while later I received a text saying our table was ready, so we returned and ordered the two poached eggs with hollandaise, and the heirloom tomatoes, guacamole, almond feta, basil and kale pesto and toast with an additional egg. The hollandaise dish arrived first, so and the eggs were more like (my memory of) actual chicken eggs than I had expected, while still obviously not. My (omnivorous) companion was not convinced at all. We finished the first dish and it turned out our other order had somehow been overlooked. The staff were very polite and apologetic about this and offered me a smoothie (around $12), which I accepted. The tomato dish was very nice, even if the almond feta was salty but not so convincing. The smoothie was bright pink, very delicious with texture from seeds and berries on top. While it was nice to try out the place, and the food was good, this was more like a novelty for me, and the food is not cheap (over $20 each for our meals).

Pros: Polite and helpful staff, Novelty (vegan eggs)

Cons: Food is not cheap, Long wait at luchtime

The hip new place if you like that vibe - Edit

I'm not really into places with that noisy, bustling, line up outside, kind of vibe. Went to try the vegan eggs mostly. I thought they were pretty ordinary. They do warn you they are sweet and its true...the flavour just wasn't right for me I'm afraid. Wouldn't do them again. The mushroom bacon was really good though. Kind of small meal for the price too. I do award their efforts in attempting the eggs though. Not sure anyone could get a vegan egg right.

Pros: Mushroom bacon was really good!

Cons: noisy, a bit pricey

Something different! - Edit

I've never been to a place with vegan eggs before. We arrived at 12 and they said the table would be available in about an hour and a half. They called me (I think it was quicker than expected) and I was very impressed! We ordered the smoothie (free the nibs) and I ordered the vegan eggs with eggplant balls. I loved the smoothie in particular. I was a bit worried when I saw small servings but it was filling enough anyway. The eggs texture was incredible and I liked the taste. The eggplant balls were very tasty. I'd like to try the burger next time.

Pros: Friendly service, Lots of options

Very hip vegan cafe - Edit

I went one the second day it opened and there were already a lot of people! The vegan egg was worth trying, but tasted too much like an Asian style coconut sweet dessert for me. The matcha pancakes though, were amazing. Just the right texture and flavour!

Heaven is a place on Earth. - Edit

Ok, so part of me wants to write the worlds longest review that praises this place to no end, but I could never do it justice. So I'll just say that this is the best vegan cafe I've been to in years. They do vegan poached eggs that are to die for. The almond fetta made me want to weep. Belinda Carlisle was right, heaven is a place on Earth and it is called Matcha Mylkbar.

Pros: Literally everything.
