I'm a sucker for buffets - everyone knows that. So I loved this one, because it offered a nice variety, and you would see the food being prepared then and there.

The loveliest little restaurant with a buffet of different options( one for breakfast and one for lunch/dinner), and also a few a la carte dishes if you prefer that. They make everything from scratch and the flavours are packing the right punch! The coffee is some of the best i have had in years. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. ( considering that you are in Norway)

Buffet at good value - Edit
The buffet is very good value for money, and consists of far more common brunch items (burgers, wraps, lasagna) than your average vegan buffet that sometimes is a bit too heavy on the stews and spreads. If the weather is good, make sure you walk to this place, as the riverside with its bridges and characteristic wooden facades make for a nice and picturesque experience.

Many vegan buffets mainly offer spreads and stews. That's not the case here. The buffet included hamburgers, lasagna, wraps and much more. So good ❤❤❤❤ (children under 7 eat for free so there are apparently often a lot of children present. Can be seen as a pro, con or neither, but deserves a mention)

Just revisited the place, and they have redecorated and changed up the concept since last time. The place has such a cool vibe, that really needs to be experienced. The menu has been reduced to only a few wraps, and in stead they offer a fully vegan buffet! The kitchen is right on the other side of the table where the food is served, which makes for a very down to earth vibe, where you see the chefs busily at work while talking to customers and each other. The food is of course absolutely amazing, healthy and fully vegan. Really one of my favorite places to eat in Norway. Plenty of outdoor seating and the place is always busy. They are currently refurbishing the space next door, where they are going to have more of a traditional cafe, as I understood it.

We were there around 4 pm in the afternoon and it was completely full! After tasting the food I knew why: it was absolutely delicious. We took the buffet option and therefore could taste everything. It's a self serving restaurant/bistro and we had: Bulgur Quinoa salad with delicious dressing, spinach lasagna, a hamburger with falafel patty and very yummy sauce, a Thai wrap with very good tofu and grilled vegetables that were just on point.

One of the best in Norway - Edit
Anyone that is vegan or enjoys well made vegan food - THIS IS THE PLACE TO VISIT! I cannot tell you how over joyed I am I found this place in Norway. I'm a vegan and have been for a while and just recently moved to Norway and have had the hardest time finding a place to eat out. I'll be visiting this place the next time I'm in Trondheim. The staff were great, the atmosphere is chill and the prices were reasonable for being Norway. Highly recommend to everyone to try.

You feel welcome and immediately comfortable as if you had been there before. The service was super fast and tasty. The veggies were very fresh. They could indeed have been just hand picked from the garden.

We went here on a rainy and cold summer day. The wooden interior is quite simple but gives a nice atmosphere. It really fits to the cozy street where Mat Fra Hagen is located.
Read moreWe ordered two burgers and a wrap. The portions are quite big, so even if prices seemed high (for me at least), it's definitely worth it.
The food's really good, lots of different vegetables, sauces and flavours coming together. Everything tasted fresh, which is not strange because it's prepared on the spot by the staff. The dishes are not that creative, expect the typical vegan things like falafel, curry, sprouts.
We couldn't finish the wrap, so got a paper box to take it out with us. Nice bonus if you, like me, hate food waste.
Only downside is that the place is quite small and feels a bit crammed with many tables.
Definitely recommended when you're in town!

I had the classic burger which was delicious. It was hearty and tasty with a hint of sweetness from beetroot. The portion was just enough to fill me up - recommended!

I went there now twice. I had both times the indisk roll which was really fresh and tasty. Its a cool cozy atmosphere. And especially in Trondheim its nice to find this vegetarian heaven :D

Read moreWe ordered rolls; Falafelrull and Indisk rull, and two selfmade juices (we would have taken a smoothie, but some of the ingredients were finished).
All the tastes were excellent. I enjoyed especially the juices, they tasted really fresh.
The restaurant has really beautiful, modern interior decoration.
Restaurant was quite hot inside, but on the other hand weather was also warm on that day.
The only bigger downside was that we couldn't pay with our card (Visa), because they said that the international cards don't work there.. So we had to go to withdraw some cash.
Apart from the above mentioned downside, I would really recommend this restaurant.
