Not So Vegan Friendly - Edit

I want to like Mas. I do. The ambiance was good, the wine menu was extensive, and our server was very friendly. However, we stated from the get-go that we were vegan and looking for vegan items, and when we ordered the items that he suggested, they were covered with cheeses and cream sauces. I don't think he misheard us, because he did repeat the word 'vegan' back to us, but maybe he misunderstood what we needed. I didn't think I had to explain because he seemed to understand, but next time I'll risk seeming condescending and I'll explain myself. I'm not one for confrontation, so I didn't touch most of it, and took it home for my non-veg roommate. That said, what we could eat was pretty good. I'd go back if I knew that the servers and cooks understood my dietary restrictions.

Pros: Nice vibe, Friendly service

Cons: Expensive, Vegan items aren't denoted on the menu

Delicious - Edit

We came here for lunch, and tried several of the tapas items as well as the veg paella. The paella was flavorful, full of veggies, and perfectly cooked. The grilled artichoke hearts on top were perfect! We had the potato tapas as well as the mezze platter. Yum! This place is classy, serves great food, and has an obliging chef. Love it, great date night.

Pros: Upscale vegan options

Cons: Does serve meat, Parking can be a hassle downtown
