Change the world - Edit

If you are In Search of Yum in Playa del Carmen, then make your way to the far north end of 5th Ave ( just past 46th Street), you will love it. We had the "chicken" burger and the "hot dog" along with sweet potato fries and couple of sodas. The food was so yummy that we stuffed ourselves with one more Chikita burger. Its a small place with only a couple of tables outside, but consider having a take out for the beach which is only a few blocks away. When I asked the owners why they decided to open a restaurant, they replied "To help change the world." I love it! Helping change the world...one burger at a time. I can't wait to come back to try a Sloppy Yaca and support the movement.

Pros: Yummy food, Unique offerings, Friendly staff/owners

BEST FOOD I'VE EVER HAD - Edit

Honestly we traveled throughout mexico trying all the vegan spots and this place was the highlight of our trip no doubt! The owned by such a sweet young couple from French cuisine background they are like food scientists! Everything was so different from your typical vegan eats and they're so creative and innovative it's unbleavible! It really inspired me to go home and try my hand at outside of the box vegan cooking because honestly they really are magical place! Went here 3 times and would consider moving here from Canada because they food was so awesome and the vibes were too! I could go on forever but to get to the point you've gotta check this GEM out, and that goes for everyone no matter your diet! It's standout food that won't disappoint!!!

Pros: Incredible food that's like nothing you've tried b, Owners with such passion for what they do, Best value you'll find in Playa

Cons: There is not a single con about this place

like eating at a friend's house - Edit

We went there in search for a vegan burger. We ended up in this cosy sweet cafe where the owners could be some of your best friends and the burgers were so good we ate too much... really too much.
amazing tempeh burger and their home made quinoa-beans patty is a must try. we had also both home made french fries and sweet potato fries and we didn't left 1 in the basket.
the spot is sunny, bring your sunglasses,
will come back for sure in less than 72hours.
must try in playa.

Pros: price, freshness of products, kindness of owners

Cons: no mirror in the bathroom (could be helpful)

Best vegan restaurant in Playa Del Carmen! - Edit

This is our favorite vegan restaurant in the Playa Del Carmen area, all the others are our little on the bland side. I've tried numerous vegan burgers but the burgers at Marvin's are one of a kind! We came for lunch and came back for dinner. It's located pretty closed to the busy market areas.

The regular Marvin's burger patty is okay, I like the flavoring on other burgers (we tried the Marvin's burger and the Greenichy), but we thought the patty tasted decent, it was obviously handmade which was cool but too soft for our taste. The best is the the fried seitan patty in the "Chikita." The texture is perfect! The "Queso" sauce doesn't taste like cheese but it is good! Great quality and probably healthier than most other burgers, also a great hot dog.

Pros: Handmade burgers, Friendly staff, Vegan protein

Cons: Fries a little soggy - but still good

Decent - Edit

I beelined it to this place right when I arrived to Playa del Carmen. The salchicha and burger had good flavor, but the fries were a bit soggy. Overall, worth a visit.

Very very disappointing - Edit

I was very excited to eat here when I saw the price rating and 5 stars. The deal was sealed when I read the bio and saw there were hotdogs! I practically ran across town to get there. Sadly, the experience was not what I wanted. The pricing is actually quite expensive considering I paid M$125 for a hot dog, sweet potato fries and a drink. I wouldn't even pay that kind of money for the same meal back home and it certainly isn't cheap compared to other vegan burger options in Playa. Besides the cost my hotdog bun was stale, onions not carmalized and the meat itself fairly tasteless. The only saving grace was the sweet potato fries (which were too small a portion) and the decor of the restaurant. I'm sad to have to give this review as I was really hoping for better.

Cons: Expensive for what you get, Poor taste, Location

Marmossin 20 Dec 2016 - Hello SweetLeannaZ, we are very sorry that you did not like the Marvin’s hot dog :( as we are a small business with two months of existence, we are very aware of what our customers like and of course what they dislike. Your comments will help us improve and follow-up contributing to make Playa del Carmen a vegan friendly place :)
As for the price, the Jocho menu + sweet potatoes at 95 pesos, we are sure is one of the best option in Playa considering that everything is handmade by us. The soda that you have consumed, Búho, is also a Mexican handmade drink with organic ingredients and costs 30 pesos, which seems also fair to us. Best regards and again thank you for your comments.

Tasty burgers and fries! - Edit

I was excited to hear there was finally a place to get a good vegan burger in Playa, so I had to check it out right away! I was not disappointed! This place is located on 5th Ave. just north of the main CTM road. It is a quiet location not far from the beach. They were playing really good music in the kitchen, and it might be nice if they could put some speakers outside so diners can enjoy it as well :) There are 8 burgers to choose from, and half of them feature Marvin's house made patty. I opted for the Chikita burger, which was made with a seitan patty. It came with a nice cheeze sauce, and I added sweet potato fries on the side. It was plenty of food and satisfied my burger craving. They gave me a customer loyalty card to receive a free burger after buying 10. I will definitely be back to try as much of the menu as I can before I leave.
