CLOSED: Maru's Pizza and Italian Bistro

I honestly can't believe how horrible the food was (especially with the good reviews) I ordered the vegan salad. This came with wilted spinach, yellow dry sponge like tofu (I don't even think it was tofu), plain chickpeas and olives, as well as an attempt at candied walnuts which just turned out to be plain walnuts with random chunks of hard sugar. There was no dressing and no rice because they didn't have any. I then ordered the vegan pizza that the menu claimed had Daiya cheese. Instead it came with some liquidy mess that left a residue in my mouth. The waiter tried to argue that it was infact Daiya and showed me the bag. Which it turned out to be some trader joes kind. (I know my Daiya cheese). Long story short I had the salad removed from my bill and took home the entire pizza that only had two bites out of it. The most horrible food experience I have ever had. Absolutely baffled that I spent $15. Due your self a favor and avoid this place like it's the plague

I found this restaurant from a Happy Cow search and I am so happy I checked it again before heading 25 minutes across town to another place. We were able to walk here from our hotel. It was easy to find and easy to sit down and eat.

We were immediately greeted by Julio when we entered and told we could sit anywhere. As a party of 8, we kinda took over but Julio didn't seem to mind. He came over shortly to take our drink orders and I ordered some vegan bread knots even though they were not on the menu. Easy peasy and boy were they delicious. I was happy we had ordered the dozen.

The kids and I ordered the vegan pizza. It was loaded with tons of veggies but not enough cheese. A little bit more cheese and it would have been fantastic. The sauce was great too.

The service was amazing as Julio kept our lemonade and waters filled to the brim the entire night. I was most impressed that he served our pizzas when they first came out but then he served us another round when he stopped by another time. Great, great service.

We didn't see anything vegan for dessert and we actually didn't ask because the kids just wanted the chocolate cake. It was good but don't know if it is actually vegan or not.

Very tasty, casual, good pricing. Awesome Pizza And Italian. Fresh ingredients. Owner, and manager, Joe, are very meticulous about ingredients and recipes. They even use separate equipment for the vegan dishes. They take requests. Check them out!!!

The manager and staff at this VEGAN friendly pizzeria/bistro were concerned only with our satisfaction - 100%. While they offer a vast menu of items, look for the section of the menu titled VEGAN. The owner is vegan, so she assures items offered are tasty. AND, assures that items cooked in the kitchen are NOT mingled in pots/pans/machines used for cooking meats or dairy! Awesome right? All pasta - breads - doughs are made fresh in house - cut and cooked when ordered. Ask which are vegan, most are. We had a vegan Pesto dish that was the best I've had. Garlic bread was made vegan to order just for us. SO ACCOMMODATING. The manager, Joe, kept creating vegan dishes for us to try! The "Potato Bomb" was my favorite! Give this place your business, support their vegan menu and enjoy the papmpering. Dash was our waiter and was superb. This place set the bar for customer service. That the food was all fresh ingredients, created on machines imported from Italy, and the owner is a vegan is all bonus. We had their vegan salad, vegan sausage, vegan pesto pasta, a potato bomb, a complimentary side of wheat pasta cut then cooked right there on the spot with tomatoes, garlic and basil and both garlic bread and focaccia bread...then tried to lift ourselves from the table rolled out the door happy vegan campers.....ahhhh.....
