The best thing I had in Seoul

I usually don't care about food and I barely ate proper meals in this trip, but this was such a nice place with such nice food, that I went back a few times. Next time I land in Seoul, this will be my first stop.

Pros: friendly and English speaking staff, delicious food, very charming neighborhood

Delicious

I ate here 3 times in a 5 day stay in Seoul well over a year ago. I still think about it all the time. Top notch food and lovely staff!

Delicious, well-priced!

We had fantastic vegan gimbap for a great deal!! We went with the soy ham gimbap and fried tofu gimbap, and both were excellent. The leftovers kept very well in the fridge. It was very filling and very easy on the wallet. Often vegan gimbap is a lot of veggies and no protein, but this had a perfect balance. Would definitely recommend this over some other vegan restaurants in Insa Dong. I can't think of a single thing I didn't like. Come here for sure!

Gimbap and flavorful soup

I went there for the vegan gimbap, and it was very good. The gimbap was fresh and flavorful. I also had the bean soup, which was delicious and comforting. A great place to eat vegan in Seoul. I recommend it and would gladly go back.

Pros: Gimbap, Good price, Kind staff

Cons: Not ideal for big groups

Best street food

Fried dumplings, fried gimbap, tteokbokki, and buckwheat cold noodles : a lot of choice for a small hidden restaurant. Everything is delicious and the staff is nice.
Must go to have a street food experience :)

Affiliated to Loving Hut.

Perfect spot for Korean street food options

I had the tteokbokki with odeng and tofu kimbap which were both delicious! Highly recommend the addition of odeng in the tteokbokki as it added a great texture with the chewy rice cakes. Both the ladies working were also super friendly and accomodating. They have a seperate menu clearly labelled with allium free options too.

Perfect little place

A few tables in front of the beautiful galeries. Lovely selection of dishes and tea. The tables were outside but there was heating underneath and a hot cushion to seat on, I had a perfect relaxing time!

Pros: Excellent gimbap, Good value for money, The atmosphere

Vegan Korean foods

Good selection of foods. All vegan which is great and also affordable prices. The tteockbokki wasn’t my type of food but it seems authentic so that’s good. I liked the ham gimbap. If you’re in the area it’s good to visit but wouldn’t come here only for this restaurant.

Rude Owner but Good Kimbap

I’ve been here many many times and the owner is always snappy and a bit rude. The kimbap and udon always hit the spot though. Im there for the food, not the service. If you dont mind her and just enjoy the food its worth it.

Cons: Rude owner

Gimbap and other dishes

Located next to some mall / art gallery away from the busy street, you find this shack. Friendly women working here. Limited english. Card payment possible.

The Gimbap was better than the other dish I tried during my revisit.

Small, but good!

It's a rather small booth with mostly outdoor seating, but they really make the most of it. It's great to be able to have the street food classics as a vegan. The staff (owners, I guess) were super cute and nice, and the food did not take all that long even though they made it to order (it's mostly just finishing up, like frying the prepared Mandu / dumplings). I went six years ago and was happy to still find them open this time around. Will definitely return next time!

Lovely

Lovely little place of the main street (almost couldn't find it). Had the tteokbokki, kimbap, and dumplings and all were tasty and cost about £10! Loved the vibe.

I don’t understand the ratings

I honestly don’t understand the good ratings. When I went there with my husband we were the first guests and ordered 3 menue items . The first came after 20 min. Then we had to wait another 20 min for the second one and another 20 seconds for the 3rd. Also it really didn’t taste good at all. We had the 두부국 (the tofu inside the soup was frozen) , 떡볶이, 칼국수. It was the worst food we ever had.

I think post go there for their first Korean dish and think it’s great because they haven’t had anything before 👀😂 it’s very pre-made and package food

Hole in the wall

Lots of Korean items made vegan here. We tried the kimbap (good), gyoza (good) and fish cake (gross lol, but I didn’t think I’d ever like it - just wanted to try anyway). The lady cooking the food was nice and helpful. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall/food truck a with some tables outside. Cute spot (ignore the Loving Hut propaganda)

Best vegan street food in town

We ordered two Kimbab, bibimpab and rice cakes in spicy sauce. Everything was really tasty, freshly made in front of us and quickly served. We wish we could order more but we were so full. The owner is a nice woman who can speak english. The atmosphere is also nice, with an outside terrace with fans.

Instant Ramen Disappoints

I visited Maru Kimbap recently after hearing some buzz about their quick Korean meals. The place has a casual, no-fuss vibe, and the service was friendly and efficient.

However, I was a bit disappointed to see that the ramen was instant. I watched it being prepared, and it was clearly the packet kind—just boiled and served with minimal garnish. While I understand this is common in some budget-friendly Korean eateries, I expected something a little more house-made.
