Le Cours en Verte, Marseille - review, dinner - Edit
During my Marseille trip I visited this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday evening in March. This family owned restaurant is cozy, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. They offer a daily changing menu with starters, main courses and desserts, as well as a wide selection of herbal infusions, tees, hot and cold drinks. Although the restaurant is mainly focused on organic food, there is always at least one vegetarian option for the three courses, as well as the owner and manager welcoming any vegans at all times. Their cuisine offers a variety of creative dishes with fresh, organically grown ingredients and always a personal touch. As the owner is a fan of music, a jazz band performs every Thursday evening, as well as Saturday evening entertainment being offered. The restaurant is open during the week and on weekends from morning to evening which is great, as other vegetarian restaurants in Marseille are closed during the weekends and in the evenings.
Read moreI had a raw vegan salad with fresh herbs for a starter (other options would have been lentil cream soup-vegan, or a selection of cheese), black rice with home-made vegan sausage, and a fresh fruit salad with a special home-made sugar dressing of herbs de Provence, meaning regional hand picked herbs. The band playing latin violin and piano music was a real treat, very authentic and offered great entertainment. Including some organic red wine and water, the dinner cost around 25 Euro.
I would really recommend this restaurant to anyone passing by Marseille, as the owners and staff are very friendly (children in the restaurant are very welcome, with a selection of games to choose from as well), very open minded and flexible in attending to customers preferences, the location is nice (infront of a pond in the city center where local markets take place), parking is easy, the food is excellent, fresh and organic, they offer a variety of entertainment and welcome young musicians, it is culturally very diverse concerning clientele and employees, and everyone seems to have had a great time there!
Pros: excellent, organic, fresh food, flexible, tolerant, friendly, open staff, family friendly
Cons: decoration, a bit more expensive compared to similar
