best gemista in rethymno

small traditional, inexpensive, family-run taverna.
plenty of vegan options - including bean soup, oven-baked aubergines and amazing gemista (rice-filled peppers)!

Pros: very friendly staff, excellent quality of ingredients

The best food I've eaten on this trip.

I got the tips from one at the hotel about this place. They said that the food here was really good, but that they only cook food once a day so if something is runs out, they don't make a new batch of it for the rest of the day.

This was the most delicious food I've eaten in create. It really has the taste of a homecooked meal. It's fun to find a place where the only opion isn't just a filled bell pepper. When i was there they had three vegetarian/vegan options, filled bell peper, green beans with tomatos and chickpeas with lemon. I took the chikpeace with lemon, and it did not disapoint. I was there around 1 o'clock and they had still a good amount of food left, but if you go there around 3 there's a big chance they won't have much food left.

Pros: Really taste like a homecooked meal., Large porteins, Cheap

Cons: If you come to late they might not have any food.
