Margo’s - Edit
Pure excellence! I can’t fault a single thing here. The double baked chocolate pastry was very good, though there was actually too much chocolate inside for me personally. The pistachio danish was to die for. I’m definitely coming back several times before I leave!

Best pastry ever! - Edit
We went to Margo’s to pick up a small bit of lunch, doesn’t seem like this location does the focaccia sandwiches like the description here suggests… but they do have savory options! We enjoyed the pepperoni focaccia and then had the rose pistachio danish which was honestly incredible- best vegan pastry I’ve ever had and my non-vegan mum said it was amazing regardless of whether it was vegan or not. Highly recommended spot!

My new favorite - Edit
I have tried few items and I loved each one of them. As a test for myself I also tried to put pastries in the freezer to have them for the following days and even after being defrosted, they were still perfect! Highly recommend place. I also find the price is super honest for what you get and pastries are quite big!

Best pastries anywhere that happen to be vegan - Edit
I haven’t been back to Amsterdam in a couple years and could t wait to get to Margo’s. I am staying in the west and their second location is right around the corner in one of my favorite neighborhoods. I am a vegan chef and consultant, have travelled all over, and their creations are hands down the best I have tried. The staff is always incredibly lovely and helpful. Happy 4th anniversary to this incredible place and to Margo and her staff for working so hard to make vegan food stand out and shine. They offer both savory and sweet. Go go go!

The best pastries I’ve ever had - Edit
I cannot articulate or write how incredible everything was that we had here.
Read moreThe flakiness, buttery flavor of each pastry was unrivaled by any other pastry I’ve had.
Don’t get me started on the focaccia bread… it was also mouthwatering and perfectly soft.

Nice pastries - Edit
We went here twice for pastries, both times around 2pm, and surprised to see they were almost sold out by that time (it's a peak moment for some pastries, right?).
Read moreDelicious cookies, lemon meringues, cinnamon roll and more.
Very friendly staff. The interior is not our style though. Very sober/modern. Bench on the side with some mini side tables. Not comfy/ cosy at all.

Lovely pastries, come early! - Edit
I'm a fan of this location, as their original one feels a bit cramped. That being said, I wouldn't say it's a cozy place to chill (but I think that's the vibe they want). I mostly always take the pastries to go and eat them at the nearby park or while exploring the neighborhood.
Read moreThe sizes are huge, the flavors are on point, and they have a wide variety of flavors (unlike St Jean). I'd suggest to come earlier in the day, as the options decrease the later you come.
Their jasmine tahini latte is AMAZING! I'm also happy that they have more than just oat milk for coffee!
Pros: huge sizes, amazing flavors, more than just oat milk!
Cons: not a cozy place to chill

Staff casually eating her croissant while customers are waiting outside - Edit
It was freezing cold outside and at 9:05 am they finally opened when their normal opening time is 9:00 am. I wouldn’t have bothered if this was justified (technical issue or whatever), but one of the staff ladies was peacefully eating a croissant inside right in front of us. I mean, I though this was a joke. I worked for 2 years as a salesperson in a bakery and if I had done that I’d probably been fired instantly. The latte with pea milk was pointless since that beverage only has 2.5% pea inside so it’s basically water with a bit of pea protein. So disappointed by the experience since I had tried their other location and had loved their stuff.

Good food but not a fan of the seating/atmosphere - Edit
We visited Amsterdam and I chose to stop here due to the very good reviews I'd seen and that I'd heard they had indoor seating as I wanted to sit and relax whilst eating breakfast. It was a very cold day in December and when we walked in we noticed the "seating" was just small stools or a bench all along the edges of the cafe with what looked like another small stool as a table. It didn't look very appealing to sit down and there was hardly any space left regardless. The atmosphere sort of felt as if you'd just walked in on a place you weren't invited to as everyone in there seemed to know each other and were talking to one another and you were barely acknowledged. The blonde girl behind the till gave us a moody look which was very off-putting and if I wasn't so hungry and knew the area better at that point I probably would've just left.
Read moreI ended up ordering a pan au chocolate and coffee and the guy who served us was pleasant. We managed to find a seat but it all felt a bit awkward as I was sat on a stool up against the window facing it struggling to eat as there was nowhere to properly place the food (no other small stool table left by us). I ended up rushing eating so we could leave which was a shame as the actual food itself was lovely and the portion size was massive, just would've been nice to enjoy it properly at a table in a cosier atmosphere.

Better than non-vegan pastries - Edit
I've always enjoyed pastry and since going vegan have had to cut down due to limited choice. But this is better than I remember (especially now the smell and taste of butter makes my stomach turn).
Read moreExcellent service, delicious pastries in every respect. We tried most of the options as we went 3 days in a row we were obsessed with it.
Excellent pea milk flat whites too. The pea milk was a great neutral flavour. I usually love oat but the sweetness does alter the coffee flavour slightly.
I still dream about this place
Got some photos but not all - was too greedy. Also recommend the knots..so soft.

My favorite bakery in Amsterdam 🩷 - Edit
I literally go here every single week and I love it!! The best pastries in town hands down. The tahini and cardamom swirl buns are to die for. Excellent coffee from fiveways coffee roasters (fave coffee in Amsterdam). Also there is seating and very calming atmosphere with nice music and friendly staff. Must visit! 🩷⭐️

Eten is fantastisch en goed betaalbaar. Maar de staff is zo chagrijnig als ik weet niet wat, ze zeggen je met moeite gedag. Hele nare sfeer. Erg jammer aangezien het eten dus echt goed is.
