Fresh, (vegan) cheesy Italian

English below 👇 桜木町駅そばの野毛にある『マルコ102』はお洒落なイタリアンレストランです。ヴィーガンレストランではありませんが、ソイチーズを使った料理が自慢のお店です。

Today we’d like to introduce Marco 102 (closest station: Sakuragicho.) Two of our excellent Outreachers discovered this restaurant during a walk through Nogecho. It’s an Italian restaurant that specializes in “Soytalian”— traditional Italian dishes made with tofu, and cheese from soybeans instead of cows.

The chef explained to us that they always have a few vegan items on the menu, but it might be best for us to reserve what’s known in Japan as a “course menu”, so that they can be sure to have enough vegan cheese at the ready. We reserved a four-course menu with all-you-can-drink for 3500 yen.

I was disappointed by the drink menu— it didn’t have many options. But the food was delicious and the service was excellent. The chef carefully explained each dish to us, telling us what’s in it. Japan isn’t exactly known for its vegan cheese, but the cheese featured in these dishes was just phenomenal. The tiramisu was amazing, too.

The portions were small considering the price, but I guess food this high in quality doesn’t come cheap. If you’re looking for cheesy Italian food, this is the place to go.

Pros: Food is fresh and delicious , Amazing vegan cheese

Cons: Small portion size
