excellent food, good service, friendly, stylish - Edit
Just returned from dinner at Mantras, it was our first visit there. Highly recommend a visit! The restaurant is bright, open and fresh and the menu is varied and interesting with plenty to choose from with several platos del dia too. The juice drinks are wonderful, very fresh! The raw deserts are delicious and each dish is filling and very healthy, you can feel the energy from your plate! Friendly service, felt very welcome and immediately at home. It'll be a regular stop on trips to San Jose!

Pizza boring, fries not fresh - Edit
I ordered 2x on uber eats. The fries with the burger were not fresh. The dough of the pizza seemed pre made and the vegan cheese was weird

Chaos - Edit
This place is chaos. They didn’t have anything but then suddenly they had it everything we wanted. However during covid we just aren’t even sure how to behave and end up sanitizing our hands cause we touch too many things that are definitely questionably sanitized. The nachos were insane. The yogi bowl was manic. And the falafel was in a straight jacket. Overall though, I think we were generally happy except when the Kambucha exploded. Why in this country does every kambucha act like my own personal volcano in a bottle. Here is a picture of our friends pad Thai. See what I’m saying? Oh. And we question the validity of the recently cancelled uncle Ben’s rice.

Good food, nice place - Edit
Was recently there with some friends. Between us we had nachos, couple smoothies, patacones (?), chips, a cookie and the highlight was a large!!! vegan pizza. And what I loved about it was that most vegetable toppings were raw! And it tasted delicious! My friends are usually not even vegetarian and they enjoyed everything. And that late on Friday night - I really can't complain about much at all. You can always complain about the price but we all enjoyed everything a lot.

Great food great portions - Edit
I had the vegan falafel hummus wrap and my girlfriend had a vegan falafel burger. Mine came with one side and her came with two. The portions were pretty good. Both were 4,800 colones. The place had a varied and fresh atmosphere. We went on a Sunday when it was closing so not all the options were there.

Very nice restaurant where we went for breakfast. It was a little hard to find, but they are also on Google maps. Ring the bell for them to open the gate. Many vegan options, good service and friendly host. Two terraces to sit outside and a lot of indoor seating. Recommended!

Great bowls - Edit
The mexican vegan bowl was to die for. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff, but I had to question hard to get my vegan cream included in my drink - a thoroughly odd situation as it was on the menu.

Overpriced and lacking in taste... - Edit
Had some Mexican food that had little to no taste. Probably the cook is not vegan. The waiter was nice though... Owner a bit blaisé. Coffees soso.. cake: oh no! Sometimes it is really annoying to be vegan and to end up in places like this.

Mushrooms and mocha - Edit
Took the long walk to try the highest rated veggie place in the city and glad I did! Had the Macro bowl which contained some of the best mushrooms I've had - I think cooked in garlic and oil but Idk really what they did to make it so tasty! Also had a vegan mocha dream which was dreamy indeed :)

New Fave - Edit
Formerly Neshuma, this spot is now under the administration of Mantras. The now have some of the Mantras staples like the Yogi bowl, but also have some other offerings like pizzas that give it its own personality and vibe. Mantras - San Pedro is open for dinner, so you can have some drinks along with your veg meal. The new decor is very nice. The atmosphere is very welcoming. I order delivery from them quite frequently, especially the daily specials which can almost feed 2. Love the food, go there every chance I get.

Good, but vegans beware.. - Edit
The Mediterranean platter & cashew cheesecake were delicious, but I've heard most of their cakes are bought at a local bakery & are not vegan, even though they say they are.

So fresh and yummy! Creamy, rich vegan smoothies and loads of mock meat options. Definitely get something with their salsa on it -- it's like a salsa/guacamole hybrid and it's amazing!!!

Amazing vegetarian San Pedro - Edit
This restaurant is located in the San Pedro area just east of downtown San Jose, near the University.
Read moreWe sat on the outdoor deck surrounded by greenery. We tried two smoothies the Hawaiano that had banana kale pineapple and passion fruit and the Hindu with coconut milk pineapple turmeric and dates. They were both amazing but I preferred the Hawaiano.
For dinner I had the Pad Thai which had a rich peanut coconut milk sauce. My son had the falafel burger. We both loved our meals.
For dessert we shared the fresh banana cake. I am glad we shared it because it was huge. It was warm and delicious.
The total for two meals and two drinks and one dessert was around $30 US which is pretty good considering the large portions and the quality.
I really hope to return here before our trip ends.
Pros: Great atmosphere , Large portions, Friendly service

This place will make you smile - Edit
Our flight to Costa Rica took us about 48 hours due to delays, then it took 48 more hours to recieve our bagage, and on top on that i caught a big cold. This place made me smile regardless. Really good vegan options, all their dressings were vegan at the time (i had the sesame dressing which was amazing), their salads are so fresh and their juices are handmade.
Read moreThe staff is knowledgeable about their food and are super cute.
It's pretty hard to find vegan-friendly restaurangs in Costa Rica,so my expectations were not that high, but this place is above swedish-vegan-standard! It's locaded outside san josé, i ll recommend going here with Uber since it's the most affordable way to get around - save your money for this awsome food!
Pros: No meat on the menu, Vegan-friendly, local produced food
Cons: a bit expensive
