Founded in London's Primrose Hill neighbourhood in 1966, Manna is the UK's oldest vegan restaurant in continuous operation and Europe's oldest veggie restaurant. The menus rotate to reflect UK seasons and various cuisines. Also has daily specials, a weekly Sunday roast, and organic cakes from its own bakery. Full liquor license with a large vegan and organic wine list. Bookings recommended by text, phone, or via the website. The restaurant is dog friendly. Open Wed-Thu 18:30-22:00, Fri-Sat 18:30-22:30, Sat-Sun 13:00-16:30, Sun 18:30-21:30. Closed Mon & Tue.

We have been for Sunday lunch about 5 times now. It is very hit and miss on the food. The sunday lunch is OK but nothing to sing about. The deserts are OK but again not very inspiring. The chefs need to stop adding tofu to everything (personally I hate the stuff). They have gone all vegan now which is better. a £15 taxi ride from central London.

Sunday Roast - Edit
We finally got to Manna London for the Sunday Roast…. Four of us and we are so happy we went. It was amazing. All fresh and cooked so well. The Yorkshire puds are fantastic. We finished the meal with chocolate mousse cake and vanilla ice cream absolutely superb and my guest chocolate brownie and pear ice cream. I had a second wonderful meal at Manna London and as last time the staff welcoming and made the afternoon happy. My guest happy and definitely will recommend and return. Well done Manna London

Read moreNearly all the photos are from before the new owners took over, apparently 4-5 years ago! Which is somewhat disingenuous, to put it mildly.
They took over an institution in vegetarian/vegan cuisine in London and totally destroyed it. Whereas the old Manna was a buzzing, busy, warm, welcoming place. The new one is a cold, dark, desolate, weird place. They have changed everything and for the worse.
The food, oh my, the food is not just substandard. It was lukewarm, uninspiring, bloody awful, overpriced, gloopy stuff! We cook far better food at home. Whereas old Manna had 4-5 professional excellent waiting staff. The current owners have taken it upon themselves to do the serving and they make a hash of it.
And the result is not surprising. They say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Well, there were 2 other people there on a Saturday night! And we were there from 6:30 till 9:45, when they almost pushed us out of the door! One ⭐️ would be generous.
***************** UPDATE ************* Since putting this review here, I have had threatening messages from the owners. To take my review down or else! Which is ridiculous, because in the spirit of customer reviews, I don’t want other people to have the experience I had.
I wish the owners spent their time improving their restaurant, rather than trying to behave like mobsters.

Manna London Restaurant - Edit
I'm not sure why it's so complicated to get a reservation here, maybe it might be wise for Manna to review their booking system? We booked a reservation on their website only to show up to a *closed* restaurant (with a mass amount of condensation covering the windows!!!). Restaurant communication before and after this was very poor and they made it really awkward when we tried to make a future booking, as they were a bit rude to us. I'm really not interested in supporting businesses who treat people unkindly.

I see you’ve responded to previous reviews the same way. I did use your system, and I did show up to the restaurant. I will post a photo of it, which I took because I was extremely upset that I had a booking and showed up to this. I have been using HappyCow since 2007 and do not have a history of writing inappropriate reviews. I know the purpose of HappyCow… And I’m allowed to write about my experience with restaurants, my review is valid. I prefer to support 100% vegan/vegetarian businesses, but I’m not going to provide a glowing review when treated in such a way. Sometimes feedback is a learning opportunity and a means to improve. I'm not engaging in any more unproductive conversations with your restaurant and will not give you the opportunity to continue to mistreat and/or attack me. There were opportunities for your restaurant to handle communications differently before I wrote my review. I will gladly provide all this information to HappyCow to prove my experience. Looking at some previous reviews, this has happened to other people too. Maybe you should review your booking system if you're booking reservations at times you're not planning to be open. Moreover, this was at a time Google showed you were open, so I suspect you might have decided to close the restaurant (for whatever reason, this is why I pointed out the condensation, in case you had some sort of issue at the restaurant). HappyCow Staff- Please contact me directly if you’d like to verify my experience/review. I have evidence of my reservation via documented correspondence. I also have calendar invites and correspondence with the person who was joining me (all time stamped). Finally, I have evidence I traveled to the restaurant the day of the reservation via my fitness tracker, which tracks my location 24/7 on a map — this corresponds with the metadata of the photo I took of the closed restaurant and the reservation time. The restaurant communications have been inappropriate. I will not post personal details online. I don’t think I need to supply information they already have (which is not even productive anyway) to further them bullying me. Read moreIt’s not my fault if they had an issue with their booking system or if they simply decided to not honor reservations without notifying customers. I will not be bullied by this restaurant. I have nothing against them, I am simply writing about my experience with their restaurant and you can clearly see the way they have been choosing to communicate above. My only mistake is that I should have looked at the previous reviews here (and on Google) about how Manna treat people and how there have been similar issues with bookings/closed restaurant in the past. See the reviews and responses for yourself. I had a reservation confirmation, and the owners communications before my review were very rude and attacking, just as they are in response to my review. I haven't said one mean or attacking thing back to them in my replies, just facts, but they are name-calling and bullying me. They could have chosen to handle this before my review, or simply direct messaged me on HC after seeing the review, but instead, they've chosen to attack me and post mean and unkind responses very *publicly*, which is not a good look for them. You can clearly see similar unkind responses made by them on other review platforms. Feedback is hard but a necessary thing to improve, otherwise, things like this will continue happening. Clearly they need to look at their reservation system/process. I do wish Manna all the best. Spread kindness. :)

The food was a buffet and was very creative that they focused on ‘egg’ dishes – Egg fried rice, sponges and savoury pancakes BUT without the use of eggs. The owner was also able to give us some insight into alternatives to using eggs in their cooking. Can’t wait to try out their Sunday Lunch -Yorkshire puddings

What’s not to like- the food was incredible, delicious and all made fresh on site. The food is really imaginative and super tasty. They have a great selection of wines and non alcoholic drinks. I love the fact that they try to source locally, organic when possible and whatever they can is made fresh on the premises. They make their own bread and they cater for gluten free beautifully 🙏. Every meal was really nice, good portion sizes and the plant based cheese platter is incredible - they make some of their own cheese and have some made from local cheese makers especially. Deserts were delicious - try the house made rum and raisin ice cream 🍨 - 😋. You can sign up for their mailing list and go to one of their cheese and wine nights. I have been to many vegan places, but they really go that extra mile. They also support animal charities and are doggie friendly. So all in all my new favourite London vegan restaurant 😍

We have been there several times and always enjoy the wonderful vegan food and the warm welcome by the hosts. These people really care about animal welfare and it is reflected in what they do and how they do it. Lovely plant based menu. Must go back and try the vegan roast. I highly recommend Manna.

Brilliant Vegan Sunday Roast - Edit
My family and I went for my sister’s birthday, and had a Sunday Roast. The staff were so lovely and attentive, and also gave us complimentary soup and bread which was very sweet. The roast was excellent, and their cake perfect for a birthday celebration! Everyone left very happy after a wonderful lunch.

Incredible and Europes oldest vegan restaurant - Edit
Loved eating here today and it’s dog friendly too! We opted for a sharing platter to start and all went in for the epic roast dinner with seitan Wellington. Everything was delicious. The staff were so kind and helpful and gave us a free bowl of rose ice cream and lemon sorbet to try, and we also shared the berry crumble with custard which was out of this world.
