Tasty food and offering some vegan "meat" patties for taking home - Edit
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Manimez. They were playing beautiful atmospheric Native flute music. When I came there it was quite empty. I could really relax at this place. With the food there was one issue that they didn't have vegan patties anymore for the menu of the day. So, I had the choice to either go without a patty or eat the vegetarian one (which had cheese). The food itself was tasty and I bought one of the best vegan meat patties (I think based on lentils) there which I cooked in my own meals for the next few days.

Good food in a nice setting - Edit
This is a big place, containing a health-food store, cafe, and a restaurant. The restaurant (upstairs) serves the set lunch Monday through Saturday from noon to about 130pm. I suggest getting there no later than 100pm. The price for the set lunch is 14,000 pesos as of October 2023. There is the option to get a piece of fish with the lunch, so it's not totally vegetarian here, but it's a good place to go if you are traveling with a non-veggie. The food was tasty, but the day I went, there was not a lot of protein on the plate (no tofu or gluten), so the protein came from the brown rice and the veggies. However, the food was very good and I would return. If you don't make it in time for lunch, the cafe is open until early evening for coffee and snacks.

Update December 2012: I ate here twice while in Manizales in 2012. One day there was little to no protein on the plate, then today there were both beans *and* gluten. The menu is usually posted near the front door, and at the register where you pay before eating. This place probably has the best food of the veggie/veggie-friendly places I've tried in Manizales. One thing I like is that on Saturday, most vegetarian restaurants will do a rice or pasta based meal because it's easy and they don't really know how many people are going to show up. However this restaurant does a full scale meal with variety on the plate.

Okay but nothing to shout about - Edit
When entering go to the very back and up the stairs to the next floor. There is plenty of space and lots of natural light.
Read moreHad the vegetarian menu of the day. Beans, juice, main plate and a small desert. To address a prior review the beans did not have meat nor fish. We asked numerous times and could not taste any meat or fish. The beans are made with small pieces of plantains. The main dish was okay. The fried puff balls of soy were unhealthy and not appealing. Other items in the main plate included coleslaw, a small arepa with sauce and brown rice. The small desert was a guava paste with too much sugar. Price was good but would not return as always looking for a more healthy plate.

Basic - Edit
The lunch I had was very beige and bland. The standard plate is vegetarian but they were happy to make it vegan by removing a couple of items and giving bigger portions of the other things. Beetroot soup with croutons, plain brown rice and stewed vegetable (which looked like they came out of a can of mixed peas, beans, sweetcorn and carrot cubes). A very small dish of peanut pudding and a small glass of juice. It was filling but not massively enjoyable.
