Putting The ‘Ash’ In Smash Burger - Edit
Having dashed through a pretty considerable downpour to get to this place specifically, I had high hopes. With its decent selection of plant-based offerings, and separate smash burger menu, it had all the makings of something special. Unfortunately, it flattered to deceive.
Read moreOpting for one of their seemingly special smash burgers, I envisioned a decadent, sizeable, even gloriously messy sandwich that I wouldn’t be able to put down. The reality, however, was quite the opposite. In terms of stature, it was found rather wanting, but that was the least of its problems. Almost bone-dry, the patty was dull and muted in flavour, aside from the acrid taste of excess char. What’s more, they hadn’t even bothered to melt the cheese, a near quintessential element of a this type of burger.
The sides didn’t do much in the way of improving the situation, average as they were, and, just to add more insult to injury, even the ketchup had an oddly off-putting consistency.
Disappointing to say the least, I won’t be tempted to return.

I got the Jose Jose burger with BEYOND meat. Sadly they were out of vegan cheese, but even without it it was great. They gave me a lot of jalapeños so it was pretty spicy, but I liked it.
