New location is tamarind island grille food truck!

I’ve tried to add their new food truck which they opened after Mangos closed, but it still hasn’t been added so I’ll just post here for now. Tamarind island grille is now a food truck in mid city at the camp, and it is owned by the same family that owned Mango’s. Half of their menu at their food truck is vegan and if you like somewhat spicy food you MUST try the vegan jerk chicken dish. It is absolutely delicious. I’m sitting here craving it now and thinking of stopping by. The mango vegan chicken is also really good and my kids really like it. I hope they eventually open a small restaurant. I think if they shrunk down their menu from the old restaurant, opened a smaller location and nixed the buffet they would do really well. But until then I’ll keep coming to the food truck!

Satisfied my jerk cravings

Mangos is an awesome place to go if you have a craving for Caribbean food. Their mock meats are delicious and filling. Be sure to give yourself time if you are going at lunch, in my experience the service slows down due to a crowded restaurant.

Pros: Delicious food, Friendly service

Cons: A little expensive

Underwhelmed

I saw the good reviews here and was excited to eat here. But we were the only customers there for the 90mins or so that we were there. I ordered the chickpea potato roti, but it turned out to be too dry, couldn’t finish it even though I was hungry. My friend had the buffet. Even though we didn’t see any other customers, the food in the trays were half gone, made me wonder how fresh it was. They did have a few vegan mock meat dishes in the buffet, but I didn’t try them as I’m not fond of mock meats.
I really wanted to like this place, but it was not possible.

Pros: A few vegan options, Friendly staff

Cons: Some dishes can be veganized for an upcharge , Food was disappointing

Good food and nice staff

Had the all-you-can-eat buffet. Nice choice of tasty vegan options including coconut bread for dessert, the staff was nice and patient. Loved it

Many good veggie options

Most are already vegan, but can easily be made so. Their Vegetarian Curry Chicken Roti is my personal favorite--very spicy and good, but they also have Chickpea Potato Curry, several vegan "fish" and "chicken" options, and a nice buffet ($8.99 I think) during lunch on weekdays that always has at least one vegan option, usually two.

They'll always work with you, too, which is great--at least a couple of the servers are vegan, and the chef knows what she's doing to make vegans happy. It's great!

Don't forget dessert: their Pineapple Peach Crisp is amazing!

Pros: knowledgable, variety, excellent food

Cons: no weekend hours
