Great vegetarian & vegan options, service - Edit
We have been coming here for years. Mandalay is one of our favorite restaurants in the world. We always get great food & personalized warm service. It gets busy so make a reservation online if you have 5 or more people. The vegetarian & vegan options are incredible. We routinely order balada, samusa soup, tea leaf salad, walnut broccoli tofu, Mandalay special noodle, coconut rice, Burmese iced tea, & ginger mint lemonade. Parking can be tough in the area on the street. The restaurant is nicely decorated.

Delicious tofu dishes - Edit
The tea leaf salad and tofu noodle dish we ordered were incredible. I like the ambiance but the server kept trying to aggressively upsell us.

Serving the best since 1984 - Edit
Rumor has it that Mandalay is the first Burmese restaurant in San Francisco, if not in the Bay, and it remains the best. It strikes the perfect balance of flavor, ambience, and accessibility that can't be found anywhere else. It sets the standard for perennial favorites tea leaf salad and samusa soup while providing options no other place seems to carry like the Mandalay eggplant.
