Little Gem - Edit

Mandala is such a pleasant place to spend some time in Tavira. The atmosphere and the decoration is great, but so is the owner and her daughter. They are so kind and attentive!

The only food available, aside from sweets, was the bombay sandwich made with carob and wheat bread. Inside, there was a chickpea flour omelet, various chutneys and sauces and some veggies. I really liked it. Each bite would bring different flavours. The portion was just big enough.

I also had a piece of carrot cake. It was perfect.

Pros: Extremely kind owner, Pleasant atmosphere, Very good sandwich

What a great surprise! - Edit

Thanks to happy cow we found this beautiful place, in front of Tavira's river, owned by the most kind person, where we had an amazing Bombay sandwich (bread and omelette home wood-oven made) and a soy mango lassi that was to dream of. Hope they soon get the full restaurant permit because the food is already perfect as snacks, I can only imagine how great it will be as they're allowed to serve full meals.

Relaxing café - Edit

This place is so charming, and what creates a place is the people who make it lively. The owner is so kind and you can taste that the food is full of love. The OM-elette is delicious, with its special sweet sauce on the side, miam! Many details in this café will make you want to go back again. And it's the only vegan option in Tavira !

Pros: Good atmosphere, Friendly staff, Amazing tasty food

Cons: Small menu because they are waiting for the permit

Vegan Indian Fusion, music and art - Edit

The owner, from Goa, just opened Mandala and is in the process of upgrading her licenses so she can serve more food. She has hand pressed juices, homemade cakes and vegetable lentil savory pancakes with fresh coriander dipping sauce called OM-lette. Also a lovely sandwich with cacoa bread, chutney, and vegetables. Quite tasty! She also sells some products like a traditional fig and almond cake with brandy (this is a hard piece of cake that you slice and eat in small amounts. In the States, we eat this 'cake' with vegan hard cheeses. She also has wonderful chutneys (mango, tomato) and hot sauces that a local friend makes for her. Keep checking back as her place and food offerings expand. Be sure to make her sit down with you and ask her about her life. She is a lovely woman and very interesting to talk to . Oh, and she has vinyl records! We heard Joni Mitchell's old Court and Spark album while we were there.
Wishing Mandala all the best.

Pros: fresh fresh fresh, homemade, nothing prepared ahead., the owner!

Unique Place to relax and recharge your soul - Edit

Here you can not only nourish your body, but also your soul. The Mandala cafe is a very special place with an unique aura and atmosphere. For me it was love at first sight - once I entered into this magical place, I never wanted to leave again. This little cafe is a true gem and its owners are the most lovely people!! Here you can find your peace, have a HUGE pot of organic, fair-trade cafe (with a selection of several "milks") a mango lassi or a fresh juice, enjoy their yummy Bombay sandwich or their outstanding OM-elette ( made with chickpea flour) and finish off with an amazing carrot cake. Listen to cool music ( you can browse through their collection of vinyls and select what you want to hear), enjoy the local art at the walls, browse the shelves rented out to local artists and produces of delicatessen like chilli-pastes or vegan chocolate ( to come in October) or simply look out to the river ( they also have outdoor seating, but i preferred to sit inside) your will for sure love this place as much as I did. A true heaven - I can't wait to come back

Pros: unique atmosphere & concept, great food - focus on organic and fair-trade, wonderful owners

Cons: too far from Munich for a quick visit;), no restaurant licence yet, so only limited food
