A taste of Iran.

We shared the mezze platter between two of us. Each mouthful was a taste sensation! The green olives marinated in pomegranate molasses, ground walnuts, mint, garlic & ground angelica seed were so good I'm still thinking about them. We finished with a portion of Maman's Baglava - a beautiful dish consisting of layers of phyllo, coconut syrup, crushed pistachios and rose petals. We went at lunchtime and it was fairly quiet. The venue had a nice, relaxed vibe & was light and airy. I'm hoping to go back before the pop up finishes in December. Highly recommend.

Pros: 100% vegan, Authentic, Unusual

Interesting venue

We had the five meze deal and two of the stew dishes with two rice between four. That was probably enough food. The olives and also aubergine thing were delicious. The rest was tasty.

Wouldn't give it full marks just yet because it is expensive for what you get and it feels a bit makeshift because of the venue and set up.

For example, we sat at a table that didn't really have enough room for all the dishes that came out and had to pick up our own cutlery to take there. The light is quite dim in the venue because it is primarily a jazz club/bar and you can't really see what you are eating very well.

You also need to be careful when you book. We had booked a table for 6.30pm and were asked to leave at 8.30pm because the jazz band were starting and we eould have had to have paid £12 each to stay. As we'd already been there two hours that was okay for us but if you had booked later you would have been ending your meal pretty quickly or paying a lot more to watch the band.

We also did try to change our booking to add more people but this was tricky as the phone number and email address are only for the venue and not the kitchen and so the information never got through to them.

If you want to try new vegan food, have some money in your pocket to spend and love jazz then this is probably worth trying.

Pros: Some tasty dishes

Cons: Expensive for what you get, Be careful when you book, Take torches to see your food!

Quirky

Mana's is an interesting place. It took us a while to find it but once there we liked the atmosphere right away. We had booked online and on arrival were pointed towards our table where we sat down and waited for 15 minutes before realising that we had to order at a counter in the opposite corner. After ordering our food we waited half an hour for it to come. It was tasty enough but not very filling and it was a bit too dark to see what we were eating. The staff and customers were all very nice but before we had finished a waitress asked if we were staying (and paying) to hear the band who had been doing very loud sound checks since our arrival. We weren't staying so we were told we'd need to be out by a certain time. We were going somewhere else anyway so it wasn't a problem - but it might have been. The place had not been open long and I imagine they will be better organised next time I'm in London. I'd definitely like to give Mana's another go.

Pros: Interesting setup, Nice people

Cons: Slow service, Too dark for eating

Vegan Iranian food

The food was tasty, it was good to try something new and I liked the atmosphere. I would definitely say it’s worth visiting and supporting. Also good bar with cocktails.

My only gripe is with the venue really, as on Wednesday evening, we had ordered food and were then approached at the table and asked if we knew a concert was going to start (we didn’t) and that we’d have to pay £12 each to stay. We had to convince them to let us stay to finish our meal… so that was a bit odd.

Pros: All vegan! , Pop up run by an Iranian woman

Cons: Had to eat the mezze off of the serving plates , Surprise concert

Nice vegan pop-up restaurants

I came here with a group of four. We split the 5 mezze dish and a few mains. The food was tasty, comfort home cooking. Nothing that will blow you away but still worth trying. We paid about £18 per person (no drinks or dessert). Everything is vegan.

The restaurant is tucked away in a cosy building near King’s Cross. There’s a performance stage in the dining room and, when I was there, a person played piano. The music was nice but was a little loud to accommodate conversation. There’s no table service - you have to order and pay at the counter. It’s a big dining room with spaced out tables, but there’s not many tables so make sure you make a reservation.

Magnificent mezze

Tightish train turnaround at kings cross but didn’t want the usual chain offerings. Mana’s proved perfect for both speed and taste.
Had the mezze platter for two - every dish a hit. Beautiful fresh flavours and intriguing mixes. Not usually a massive vegan cheese fan but the panir o khorma was a winning combination of taste and texture.
Staff really friendly and got food out in good time.
Hopefully they’ll still be running next time I’m in London so I can explore the stews!

Pros: Great flavours , Friendly staff , Nice environment

Persian pop-up

Beautifully presented food and friendly service at this new venue and even newer kitchen tucked away on a quiet street a short walk from King's Cross station. Highlights were the Mirza Ghassemi aubergine dip which delivered on the promised smokiness and garlic, and the stews with their characteristic sour tang - even without the matchstick fries mentioned with the Gheymeh Bademjan stew. The service pace was leisurely but I'm sure this will get slicker with time.

Our group found the food service times online a bit confusing - the kitchen currently opens for lunch at 2pm on a Saturday. Expect a live music soundtrack from the jam sessions that regularly take place.
