UPDATE DEC 2024: Menu has been updated and the vegan Al pastor has been removed. There are no longer any options explicitly labeled vegan. I ordered veggie fajitas and was very explicit that I didn’t want any dairy. Nothing listed in the item description was dairy but I wanted to be certain because many places include a salad with sour cream or cheese on the beans without it being explicitly in the item description. The server assured me there was no dairy. Imagine my confusion when the order came out with quesadillas on top of my fajita and no tortillas for my fajitas. I told the server I’d asked for no dairy and he insisted there was no cheese on the food “just quesadillas.” After a few more awkward moments of me being confused as to WHY there was cheese quesadilla on top of my veggie fajitas, the server took the fajitas back and brought it back 90 seconds later, same food with the quesadillas removed like I couldn’t have done that myself. As far as quality, the $15.50 veggie fajitas (inexplicably sans tortillas of any kind) tasted bland and poorly seasoned.
Read moreStill trying to process this weird decision from a restaurant that previously offered a unique and delicious explicitly vegan option. Like, why? I’ve never had quesadillas delivered on top of my veggie fajitas. The menu is a picture menu, ffs, and there are no cheese quesadillas in the photo of the veggie fajitas either. It almost feels like the chef was being a smartass. 😂
Also, FWIW my niece had a side of “fresh fruit” which was literally just a Dole mixed fruit cup. My sister was visiting Cary for the first time in 5 years to celebrate my niece’s 7th birthday and I’m very disappointed that I chose Mamacita for our dinner.
Not likely to return when there’s no longer anything on the menu for vegans that stands out from every other Mexican restaurant. The food itself was subpar. Previously rated 4 stars before menu change (and questionable service).
Note: Online menu has not been updated and still lists vegan al pastor. It is not an option on the current menu in restaurant.
First impression: I enjoyed the vegan Al pastor dish though it was a bit more oily than I prefer. I hope that isn’t typical but even with the excess oil it was very good.
The drinks are good but a tad on the expensive side. The atmosphere was chill—busy without being too loud. The food is brought out a cute little robotic cart with a cat face.
