Vegetarian Indian restaurant with lunch buffet 7 days a week and dinner/a la cart menu. Offers a variety of Northern and Southern Indian dishes as well as Indo-Chinese dishes. Reported closed June 2023.
Prices are expensive for vegetarian food. The curries are not made with fresh vegetables, mostly frozen vegetables. Portions are small, spring rolls are very small and served with ketchup (what is this?). Service is very slow, it can be improved. The mens' bathroom is dirty, sink is dirty, no wipe your hands. Normally if an establishment has a dirty bathrooms, it says a lot about the rest of the facility.
Really great and tasty food. They were able to accommodate some of our strict dietary restrictions on a short notice so extremely grateful but rated 4 stars because it did seem they were short staffed and they weren't able to manage the orders and entrees properly (e.g. appetizers were served at the end and roti was served without the sabzi being ready). Not sure if it was just due to the large size of the group we had but we truly enjoyed the taste of the food.
Recently moved to Broadlands and gave this place a try. Seems like majority of the menu can be made vegan. Strange set up inside, almost half Indian grocery store half restaurant. Had to wait a bit to pick up my order but good portion sizes and decently priced. Lentil Daal was great, looking forward to trying their other curries.
This restaurants strength may be their buffet, I'm not sure. We went there for dinner, after the buffet was over. We ordered from the menu. The staff was extremely nice and explained what every dish was The samosa was excellent. Light, crunchy with just the right spiciness. The rest of the meal was extremely disappointing. Tiny portions, and the food seemed old and reheated. Very pricey as well.
This place is heaven, I am an Indian and this is the best most authentic Indian food I have had in America. The service is amazing. The staff is very polite and the simply awesome, I went there with a friend and the staff offer us complementary mango lassi and dessert. I just love this place. Everything should definitely try. I give them 10/10. Thank you guys for such great food and amazing service.
Awesome buffet, and love the Indo-Chinese selection! - Edit
I was excited to try this place, and they did not disappoint. I loved the variety of the buffet. Everything was delicious. If you're not sure what's vegan or what would have dairy, I'm sure they would be happy to help, the service was very friendly.
The buffet was larger than a lot of Indian buffets you might be thinking of. I love south Indian food (dosas, idli, etc.), maybe even more than northern Indian food, so I appreciate places that have both. The price is also pretty reasonable.
There aren't many places in the DC area that offer Indo-Chinese dishes at all, and this place has the most of any I know of. They had some items in the buffet, including ones I had never tried before, and they have more on their menu (mostly on the appetizer menu). I don't live nearby, but I'm hoping to go back and try some of the dishes on the menu, because they have some I haven't seen on any other menus in DC/VA/MD.
