Tasty ramen

There are several vegan ramen options on the menu, all clearly labelled, plus at least one katsu and noodle dish as well. I tried the black garlic tonkotsu ramen. It was a good dish, but unfortunately it didn't quite live up to its name - it wasn't particularly garlicky, and the broth wasn't as thick as I expected from a tonkotsu, though that may be a poor understanding on my part. It was still tasty though, with a nice savoury broth and none of the filler toppings you sometimes find on vegan ramen. I ordered mine with extra vegan bacon, and I'm glad I did - it was delicious! I think without the extra bacon it might have been a little unexciting overall. The portion of noodles was extremely generous, and certainly filled me up.

I also ordered the vegan bao, though the menu description of this item is bewilderingly vague - it doesn't actually tell you what the filling is. Happily, it turned out to be filled with a delicious crispy chicken patty. The texture and taste were great, though the patty was too big for the bun so it was a bit tricky/messy to eat.

Overall, I was really pleased with my dishes and would happily return. I was there with a mixed vegan and omni group, and everyone was satisfied.

BEST RAMEN IN THE UK

We first went here in Edinburgh and it was the first time since being in Japan that any ramen even came close to the real thing. So happy we have one in Manchester now.. if you really like spice go for the hells ramen, I prefer the tan tan which is still spicy. The noodles takes SO fresh. Just tried the bao buns for the first time which were amazing too and don’t forget to try the kimchi it’s the best I’ve ever had !!!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Alcohol free Asahi

Lots of options

Lots of vegan options. Personally, I don’t think it’s the best ramen ever but they were good nonetheless. I’d like to see another bao bun option too.

Great vegan options

I went here twice already. Tried ramen and then the curry with rice. It was both very delicious, very filling meals. Beautiful atmosphere as well. Restaurant was busy despite going during a weekday for lunch and then evening.

Pros: Curry, Atmosphere, Staff accomodating despite being busy

Delicious

Had the black garlic tonkotsu with extra tofu and thoroughly enjoyed it. The broth was so warming and flavourful with a good mix of bits on top. There were several different ramen bowls, a couple of rice bowls, one type of sushi and a few sides. Everything was clearly labelled for vegans. The atmosphere was trendy and welcoming, we stayed a long time but never felt rushed into leaving. £13.90 for a bowl of ramen, not cheap but it's what you'd expect for a restaurant in central Manchester, good quality food and decent portion sizes. Only downside was that there were no vegan desserts.

Pros: My dish tasted amazing, Plenty of choice for vegans, Great atmosphere

Cons: No vegan desserts, Not cheap
