This mob needs to sort out its priorities - Edit
I gather this enterprise’s main activities are not around running a cafe - perhaps they’d be better off focusing on what they’re good at.
Read moreMy Eggs Benedict roll was excellent, their vegan eggs are a winner, while the ham was not so much ham, more indeterminate seitan, the end result was most enjoyable.
And I wouldn’t have had the experience based on the lack of service I received on arrival, except that I needed to eat and there weren’t any nearby alternatives available.
I’m guessing the woman driving the coffee machine doesn’t have a lot of experience, she was incredibly slow and the coffee was not very good.
She told me “she’d be with me in a minute” when I arrived. When she checked back with me 10min later and I asked for a menu, it was thrown across some distance and with force to slam onto my table.
A colleague was brought out from the kitchen to take my order - to her credit she did apologise for my experience, but it was accompanied by a pass-agg explanation that I should have ordered & paid at the counter. This is not made clear (the direction was later pointed out at the bottom of a juice menu high on the wall), the only available menu is a small print copy pasted below waist height, this would distract the barista from her principal activity (which was already taking too long), and she’d told me “she’d be with me in a minute”!
Once my order was taken, it didn’t take over long to arrive, and as mentioned earlier, I enjoyed it very much.
I travel Australia & the world seeking out vegan food experiences. When I have a poor experience from a vegan business I am usually loathe to say anything bad, but instead decline to review. The poor organisation and attitude from this place leave me feeling I must say something.
There were a number of other ppl present (friends of staff &/or regulars) who were being treated markedly better, how one attains the necessity status for preferential service is of course a mystery!
As I left I was given follow up pass-agg education regarding order & pay at the counter - it’s part of our process “for next time”. There won’t be one.
Pros: Great food
Cons: Abysmal service

The coolest people and the best food. - Edit
Truly the greatest baked goods you will find in Sydney (and beyond). Love coming here on a Sunday morning and enjoying a toastie with great coffee, chasing it with cake.

Great place for a coffee or quick bite to eat - Edit
Discovered Maker when I did a cooking class there... Which was really good, but nothing beats heading in to have them cook for you on the weekend.

Fabulous! - Edit
The first thing that strikes you when you enter through the door of MAKER is the fun happy people...busy but helpful, friendly and fun. Then comes the food...deliciousness! The "special" toastie was filling and full of flavour, the avo on toast was generous, fresh and tasty. ..and the best gluten free bread I've tried. The spicy rhubarb cordial was so refreshing too. And then the cakes...mmm, mmmmm!! We'll be back...definitely worth the drive!

Great food, but too small - Edit
The food at this place is really great, and there is a variety of things it's otherwise difficult to get in Sydney unless you bake them yourself: cakes, pastries, sausage rolls, sometimes even croissants! My problem is the size of this place, and location. If it were bigger and people didn't have to sit in the street, then Parramatta Road would be a great location. The food is too good and the business too successful to stay in such a small venue.

Cons: Size of venue, Opening hours a little eratic

They need to up their game! - Edit
Visited on a Saturday morning. There were at least 7 people queued ahead and the space is so cramped we were almost out the door. One employee was making coffees for people seated outside and the other wasn't serving anybody, only preparing an order. Waited about 10-15 minutes and within that time only one person was served while the rest of us waited. We ended up leaving as the line wasn't moving and didn't want to waste our weekend. These guys have so much potential but they really need to improve their service and increase staff on weekends if they want to stick around. Reason I give an extra star is that the menu looks good and I hope to return for better luck. Hopefully it improves!

fantastic vegan creative space - Edit
Not only does this place do amazing food and coffee, but the great energy of the place is like a breath of fresh air. Having so many vegan creators in one place ensures there is always magic happening! They have a selection of vegan cookbooks that you can browse whilst savouring whichever treat you've decided to get, whilst consoling yourself about all the other delicious things that you'll have to try next time. The publicly accessible space is small, and the seating is milk-crate style, so maybe grab takeout if low seating is an issue for you. This is a great place to pick up a nibble and maybe take home some vegan beauty products.
