outstanding gourmet vegetarian food - Edit
We ate at Maitrea twice this week because it was so good.
Read moreThis is vegetarian at its best. The staff are very nice also. This place is so popular that you must have a reservation for dinner. You can walk in for lunch.
Pros: outstanding vegetarian food, no smoking, friendly staff
Cons: packed; may need a reservation, slightly slow

Good food, multiple vegan options - Edit
since it‘s a vegetarian restaurant, I feel better eating there than at a restaurant that serves meat as well. We had the udon noodles and kimchi udon noodles. Portions were okay, since we weren’t that hungry. Staff was friendly, atmosphere is good.

Lieu sympa mais plats décevants. - Edit
Pros: Accueil, Service, Ambiance
Cons: Prix, Nourriture bonne sans plus

Vegetarian/vegan Czech food - Edit
Great vegetarian restaurant with many vegan options (although could be more) that offers traditional Czech food. The food was great and not too expensive. We didn’t need a reservation (Thursday evening)

A little disappointed - Edit
The atmosphere is nice. But we had to wait a lot for the burgers and when we asked the server how much longer do we have to wait he got a little upset.

Unforgettable plant-based " duck " - Edit
Maitrea was the place where I first tried plant-based duck many years back and it is still unforgettable even until today, when there are so many delicious plant based "meats" already available in almost every shop ..

Nice place that veganize Czech traditional recipes!
Read moreCute decoration, nice staff but we waited 30minutes for our dishes (the restaurant wasn’t full).
I ordered svicková and my boyfriend ordered a beyond meat burger. It was good but not incredible.
At the end our bill was 45€ for not a big quantity and quality of food.. I was a little disappointed

Review - Maitrea - Edit
Today is my first solo trip outside my country. I felt the cozy ambiance from this place and I decided to try a czech vegetarian plate! It was so different from what I’m used to and I loved the combination of flavours from a veggie Svíčková 🫶🏻

Very good but slightly overrated - Edit
I've been there twice and I do love the place. However, I had better versions of all their vegan options in Prague. It's a good place to take carnivores as well. Their menu is large too. Beautiful interior. Normal portion size

A bit weird - Edit
Had the goulash . Was ok. Not sure why they can't make the dumplings vegan. My partners curry came out cold, so we sent it back. Dessert of rhubarb crumble tasted weird. Was made vegan by just removing the cow cream from the veggie version. And you get charged the same. I get a feeling they are a veggie restaurant that resents having to cater for vegans . The restaurant itself is very pretty. Wouldn't go back .

Many options with great flavor - Edit
First time trying black beer goulash and I really liked it. The meat substitute was spot on with the texture, the flavor of the sauce was really good and the potatoes had great seasoning as well. Overall a great dish and I’d recommend trying it if you get the chance!
Read moreThe Udon noodles were tasty and filling. Good portions, a bit on the pricier side but still accessible.
The restaurant is quite pretty, servers are nice. The menu feels a little all over the place considering the options, but the dishes have great flavors and good portions.

Not too bad - Edit
I looked at the other reviews, some of them urged caution. But we had a good experience here. Nice food, nicely decorated in the basement, albeit very warm. Service was okay when we were downstairs, but a little curt upstairs when we came in - no real issues. I was the only vegan and had the Asian crispy Seitan dish - was really nice. My daughter had the quesadillas, she loved them, and wife had the goats cheese salad - again, really nice. Seating was a bit weird for three people - you’re stuck next to three other strangers! Could have been a few more purely vegan options. Just misses out on 5 stars.

It's ok - Edit
I had the appetizer sampler and goulash. I was disappointed that the dumplings couldn't be made vegan, they have to be substituted for potatoes. I'd say it was average, but not worth the price. It's surprisingly expensive.
