yummy! - Edit

I had the banana flower salad which was really tasty and a decent size. Really cute small place, prices were okay and the staff were really friendly. I really like that the money you spend goes back into the community to help kids!

Not Enough Flavor for Me - Edit

Lots of Cambodian-style and inspired foods. Some of the dishes were bland and didn't have enough flavor (Khmer Red Curry). Maybe this is more of a reflection on Khymer food and not this particular restaurant. Some were new things we could try which was a plus -- its difficult to find vegan Khmer food especially of traditional Khmer foods. The different choices and different vegetables available were pleasant.

Pros: Many vegan choices, wonderful staff

Cons: Not enough flavor

Delicious food! - Edit

This is a really lovely small restaurant and so cheap - for $6 you get a light soup, main course and dessert. It was great to eat Cambodian food and know it was fully vegan. The vegan amok was quite a small portion but the red curry was big - I went with a friend and we shared both dishes and it was more than enough. Flavours were amazing and staff seemed sweet - English was limited but they were helpful.

Pros: vegan traditional Khmer food , really cheap , super tasty!

Cons: some portions small

Amazing! - Edit

Went there for dinner. All dishes were incredible delicious. One of our favorites in SouthEastAsia. Best veggie value-for-money in Siem Reap (stayed there for one week). 6 $ for a three course menu.
The dishes tasted very special with lots of spices we do not use in the European cuisine. Was a bit weird in the beginning but the more we had the bette it was.
The staff is very friendly and the place supports local communities.

All vegan Khmer cuisine - Edit

All vegan Khmer cuisine. Great value and friendly service. We had a three course dinner package including sweet-sour soup, amok (traditional curry) with shredded jackfruit & tofu and the highlight was a smooth, creamy pumpkin sago custard dessert. Located just next to Palm Café and across the road from supermarket with local & international products.

Pros: All vegan, Friendly service, Delicious food

home and heart cooked cambodian vegan food! - Edit

i have been traveling to siem reap for
10 years to teach a yoga retreat and while it’s come a long way in its vegan offering, MAHAB BUOS is food genuinely cooked with love that even non-vegans would applaud and appreciate. take the time to speak to the young cambodians (thyda and liva) who started this venture and also the multi talented young cambodians who work there...it’s a story you’ll want to hear and support.

make a difference with your tourism footprint and impact...support young, cambodian and VEGAN women!

this is more than compassionate food...it’s a movement!

Fantastic traditional cuisine, made vegan! - Edit

I must start with saying that the service was excellent. Any questions asked about the ingredients or dishes were answered without any trouble and the service was quick and seamless.
The food was equally as good too. I ordered the Amok (mushroom) and my boyfriend ordered a traditional soup called Slaor Metew Youn, which included tomatoes, pineapple, lotus stem and lots of delicious Khmer herbs. Both dishes were piping hot and full of flavour.
Each of the meal sets included a light, flavour some soup for starters, a side of fresh pickled vegetables and a delicious hot pumpkin and coconut dessert, which was sooooo good! I regret not asking for a second helping!
Would 100% go back and try the rest of the menu.
Also, as a HUGE plus point, they help disadvanged local children learn about food/cooking and the benefits of yoga through classes they hold.

Pros: Excellent food, Flavoursome and well-balanced food, Ethical and sustainable business

The Smell makes me hungry and the taste brings me back, Curry, A Mok and Prohok Ktis is really amazing at Mahob Buos - Edit

I would say that, It was a nice trip in Siem Reap for one week with the spiritual sites of Cambodia, amazing Angkor Wat! A part of the trip with many lovely places to visit, I have found one friendly Vegan Restarant which its taste was treat me as I was home, it is called Mahob Buos. The name of the Restarant is great because you can tell taxi or tok tok that you go to #Mahob Buos then they will know that you are vegan, because Mahob Buos in Khmer is mean Mahob (food) Buos (Vegan).
I will never forget to spend time at Mahob Buos again in next January.

Crappy Food - Edit

Ugh, why did I rely on everyone’s suggestions to eat here? I just came back from one of the worst Happy Cow recommended vegan restaurants. I was the only one in the restaurant. That should have been the first tip off. I ordered the vegetable stir-fry. It must have been canned vegetables. I asked the waitress for no garlic, no ginger, and no hot chili flakes. I got hot chili flakes, which made it a landmine eating it. I had to spit out most of it, just terrible. Waitress kept sneezing, so I now I am doomed to catch her cold. Dessert was some gelatin with some jackfruit in it. One bite, and I was done. Paid my $8, and went to the grocery store across the street for some fruit and nuts to eat. Skip this place.

Pros: No wait for a table, Actual paper towels, Cheap food, but inedible

Cons: Worst food ever, Sick waitress, edit by staff - see tos

ThydaSek 21 Feb 2018 - Dear Mary Bheine,

It seems that you did not appreciate our food and we are very sorry for that. I invite you to read all the others reviews that are very positive and notice that you are the only one who did not appreciate...
However, I am taking some time to answer to your review.

First of all, you were the only person in the restaurant as it was a bit early, 5h30pm. We know that in some countries, people eat early, but we usually have more people after 7pm.
Second, I don't know how you can say that we use canned vegetables, as everything we use is fresh from market : we buy our vegetables, herbs and spices EVERY morning. This assumption already show the bad faith regarding our restaurant.
Third, you asked for no garlic, no ginger and no chili, and you did not get all of that. We use red pepper bell as decoration in your plate and that's it. If it was anyways too hot for you, you could have asked our cook to cook again and it would have been served for free.
Fourth, the dessert we serve is a traditional Cambodian dessert. We don't use gelatin, but agar agar, and this is commonly used in Cambodian dessert. if you did not like it, fine.
Fifth, the waitress was not sick. It happened sometimes that we sneeze without being sick and without staying home.

Assuming that you would get food poisoning after eating in our restaurant is not fair at all as it gives only a bad idea of our restaurant, while we are a small social business that is trying to do our best to spread vegan food and yoga to the communities.
The kitchen is surrounded by glass so you can see what is happening inside, you could have checked if you cared so much about the cleanness of the restaurant. We keep our space clean and hygienic, and we have AC for the comfort of our customers.

We are really sorry if you did not like our food and hope you are not sick.

Anyways, thank you for coming and for the 2 dollars tips, it's must have been a gesture of charity I guess.

The whole team wish you a prompt recovery if you are sick.

Mahob Buos team

Empfehlenswert!
