It's really GOOD... But - Edit
Both tacos I ordered were great. It's not authentic Mexican cuisine... Which isn't necessarily bad.. but it's its own concept. To be honest I think they are way overpriced even for Amsterdam standards. I would only go to this type of restaurant once in a while on special occasions, but not on a regular basis. However, if you are in Amsterdam and like Mexican food... You need to at least try it once!

Expensive but totally worth it, all the dishes we tried were delicious and the service was excellent. The highlights were the cauliflower wings with an amazing chipotle mole, and the birria quesatacos - wonderful flavours and really inventive vegan takes on the dishes. Would also definitely recommend going for dessert too - tres leches was something I thought I would never get to try as a vegan option but I did at Madre and it was delicious!

An Amsterdam Must-Visit! - Edit
I’ve visited Madré twice now (October this year and last year), and it’s definitely one of my favourite plant-based spots in Amsterdam. Both times I ordered the 3D-printed Birria tacos and they were insanely good - full of flavour, and super satisfying.

Our experience at Madre was incredible! We ordered "The Full Made Experience", as it was a special occasion, and we had NO regrets.
Read moreEach dish was really well prepared, with complex flavours - from umami, to citric, to bittersweet and, of course, some spiciness - also very well presented. Each dish was completely different from the other, bringing a sort of flavours and complementing the experience.
The desserts were also something else! It closed the night with golden keys! The restaurant has such a nice vibe, from the music to the ambience, and we'd also an amazing table service. Also good beverages options, with different beers, cocktails, mocktails, wine and juices.
I definitely recommend this place for vegan people, specially those who wants a more elevated experience - it can be a really expensive, but it's worthy.

Dont get me wrong: all dishes we ordered were tasty and I had the milky-drink (forgot the name) and it was divine. The staff were also super friendly and the place itself is very cute. I think I just had really high expectations because someone had told me it’s their favorite restaurant in Amsterdam, and so that made me not super impressed.

We hade the chefs choice and it was great. Really cool and innovative creations with 3d printed pork and sweetpotato salmon, or something, not sure. Great flavors, although not really spicy, could have had more chili. They take pride in the mezcal and tequila as well. I had the michelada which was not a classic michelada (this was more boozey) but indeed very good.

This was my fifth or sixth time at Madre and they knocked it out of the park (again). We shared the Sikil Pak, Wild Mushrooms, Chintextle Green Beans, Artichoke Tacos and Papa al Pastor Tostadas. It was all simply wonderful.

Update: another visit, this time with a non-vegan and we shared the chef’s menu (five savoury dishes plus a dessert). Nothing was bad — far from it! — but I definitely prefer to choose my own dishes. The dessert (which I never order) was delicious, so that almost made up for it. 😁

This is a nice and large restaurant but pricey. They do have some nice deals, like Taco Tuesday (tacos and margarita for €24,50) guacamole on the house for early birds. The staff is nice, but the music is loud, so not handy when you want to talk.

Spectacular! I strongly recommend the Full Mądre Experience. Especially the beetroot ceviche (if available) and artichoke taco. Don’t overlook the desserts if you don’t choose the tasting menu! The staff is great and caring as well.

Wow! What a wonderful surprise. Here you can find delicious elevated Mexican style food that does not disappoint. The atmosphere is a bit more upscale, which was great for us after so many casual meals, and the decor was really thoughtful. We absolutely loved the Birra Tacos and the Artichoke Tacos. The margarita was also well-made and super smooth. Nice staff too. This place is excellent all around.

I tried out various of the dishes, meant for sharing with your table company. They are very well-crafted, with a good mix of freshness, bite and crunchiness, spice and richness. The 3D printed pulled pork in the taco is very convincing. It is not cheap though, expect to spend between €40,- and €50,- per person here.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was very warm and the team very nice. It is also possible to sit directly at the open kitchen and to have a small chat with the chefs. The dishes I tried were both very tasty! The Chintextle Green Beans in particular were mouthwatering and such a dish I would like to eat again, again, and again. The bite was very good and they were heavily roasted in sesame oil with some greens, and served with a tahini/peanut sauce.
