This pistacho icecream changed our lives. Both vegan 10 years permanently on the hunt for pistachio (all time fave flavour). This. Was. The. Best. My friend has tried pistachio icecream all over Europe and this was without contest the best. We would return to Girona at the drop of a hat just for this icecream.

Very creamy, super nice ice cream with tons of fun flavors. Service was very friendly and helpful in our moments of doubt… We ended up with hazelnut, orange/chocolate (not sorbet!), lemon (also not sorbet 😊) and crema de catalana. All four were a success and we’re probably coming back 🥳

Madonna is a revelation. This friendly all-vegan gelateria is tucked into the historic Girona district and offers too many flavors for any rational vegan to choose from.
Read moreWe were met by a few warm and welcoming girls who were happy to answer our questions and let us try any flavor we wanted. Offering twenty flavors, the decision was difficult. Eventually, we decided on the Catalan creme, the Kojak (chocolate and cherries), and Nata (whipped cream).
The Catalan Cream, a creamy caramel-like gelato with pieces of caramelized cake, was divine. For any tourist, this should be a must because it is a local delicacy and hard to find vegan. The Kojak, tangy cherry gelato with dark chocolate swirls, was superb. The right balance of refreshing fruit and heavy dark chocolate taste. The Nata (another difficult vegan find) was like eating a bowl of frozen whipped cream--in a good way.
The location only adds to the experience. Madonna sits right in the middle of the historic medieval city. Walking through the stone streets with a cold treat keeps you present under the sweltering Spanish sun.
Madonna is everything a vegan traveler could ever ask for. I couldn't imagine living with such a welcoming, delicious gelateria in my neighborhood. It's a dream.
