Loved this place

This is such a lovely place just a few minutes from the Parliament building. They have a daily soup and two pastas as well as a full regular menu. Perfect for refuelling in the middle of the day.

This place is super chill and calming, great food and great atmosphere. They have other branches in the city for coffee but not sure they all do food though.

Absolutely delicious

We couldn't believe that this mainstream looking cafe was all vegan, unlike a lot of vegan cafes which are - to be honest - rather hippie looking. And I love hippie looking, as I consider myself a hippie.

The cream of broccoli soup with some seeds was delicious and comforting. And we had the gyros which were fresh and delicious. For dessert, my husband had a raw chocolate treat that he really enjoyed and my chocolate babka was wonderful. Love this place!!!

Pros: Delicious food, great prices, Great service, very friendly staff, AMAZING desserts

Cons: Lack of alcohol

NOT VEGAN

Very nice place, has great coffee and tea. Most pastries are vegan, BUT NOT ALL as stated in the description, they are well labeled though. They also have pasta.
They sell cows milk, so if you want a plant-based option make sure you ask for it.
The place has quiet music, lots of tables for work/study and good lighting.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Good place to study/work/read

Cons: NOT VEGAN

Menu that changes daily with limited pasta options

Nice cafe vibes that is perfect for lunch and a coffee. Based on past reviews, I was most excited to try the vegan pasta, but was surprised to learn the menu changes daily and that there were only 2-3 vegan pasta options (e.g., one with pomodoro sauce and another with a wasabi-based sauce) available that day. In addition to pastas, there are other vegetarian/vegan-friendly dishes offered (e.g., burgers, gyros). While the pomodoro pasta was lackluster and under-seasoned, the falafel gyro was delicious! I also ordered a vanilla chai from the coffee station, which was a bit unusual but very good.

Cozy café close to the Parliament

I went to work for a couple of hours in Madal Food. They have some vegan options that their helpful staff is happy to show you. I ate a faux gras croissant which was delicious. The café has a lovely interior, but when I was there, a very loud construction was just underway.

Pros: Central location, Many vegan options, Nice interior

Cons: A bit pricey, A loud construction was going on when I was there

Delicious vegan pasta

I had a delicious vegan pasta with cheese sauce. I would recommend getting the larger size if you’re feeling hungry!
Their iced matcha was also very good

Pros: Good price , Vegan cakes

Delightful bustling cafe

The vast majority of items are vegan and the general ambiance is lovely. The quesadilla is nice comfort food and the gyros is particularly delicious. Coffee is also great.

Excellent food

Coffee store/bakery and pasta bar in one. We tried a cauliflower soup and the pasta. Nice vegan vibes.

All warm dishes on the lunch menu were marked vegan - no eggs, no dairy.

Lovely cafe

I had the small pasta and that was a good enough size for lunch. Lots of drinks and my partner had the sorbet with large chunks of fruit in it.

Pros: Nice outside looking at parliament , Tasty lunch options

Their food is nice and adequately priced. It can't bust and they can run out of things on the menu.

Bad and overpriced coffee

Their iced latte with plant based milk costs 1,450 Forint and doesn’t taste of coffee at all. Super watered down, and the coffee wasn’t even made freshly. I’d rate it 1 star if Happy Cow let me

Madal Food AND Madal Cafe here

This particular location is both a Madal Food AND a Madal Cafe. It’s an open plan place but with two sides to it and people seem to be able to sit where they like.

It seems the Madal Cafe is vegetarian with vegan options, with various sandwiches and cakes. We had three-cheese croissants (definitely real cheese), which were nice. Nothing special but fresh. The cakes are all vegan.
There are a range of artisan breads available so it doubles as a bakery, and it seems like a popular coffee stop. Soft drinks also available. There are apparently three Madal Cafes in Budapest.

Madal Food is plant-based (vegan) only.
We were confused as it’s not obvious it’s two places, but we came around 11am and the restaurant side wasn’t yet open. As I type I can see a woman preparing fresh dough and I’ve taken a photo to show the 100% plant based menus.

It’s a nice place with lots of seating inside and tables outside too. £11 for the two filled croissants, an Americano and a Fentiman’s Curiosity Cola.

Pros: Quick bites available , Fully plant based restaurant side , Big place so plenty of seating options

Love it!

Great setting in this Sri Chinmoy inspired chain. This location is large, plenty of space to sit, friendly service, and very near to the Hungarian Parliament. Excellent oatmeal latte and vegan croissant.

Pros: Large, friendly, space to sit, Statue of Sri Chinmoy adds character

Cons: There should be one on every street corner!

Good taste, comfort food, not enough fresh options

if you look for something lightweight and healthy, this is a pass. Their warm dishes are quite heavy with a lot of fake meats and fake cheeses. They also have a large selection of cakes and sweets as well as ice cream. There are a lot of tasty vegan options. Most of the things are vegan. There is a free tap water fountain in the back near the bathrooms.

Updated from previous review on 2022-10-11

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Reasonable price , Free tap water

Cons: Dishes are heavy and rather fatty , Tends to be crowded during lunchtime , Needs more fresh fruits, veggies, salads

Cheap and Tasty

We enjoyed the Quesadillas and Gyros to-go. Both were very cheap especially for the location close to the parliament.
