Wonderful cafe - Edit
I love coming here whenever I’m in Bournemouth or passing through. The food is really tasty (get the garlic bread!), the interior is cosy and all upcycled, and the staff are really friendly. There’s always lots of different hot food and breakfast options, plus tonnes of cakes which is great for my partner, who has a very sweet tooth!

Great place for breakfast - Edit
I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and it was lovely and quiet. The vegan breakfast was yummy and well-priced and the hot chocolate was huge! I also went away with a few cakes and cookies of which the brownie was particularly tasty!

Relaxed, home cooked style vibe with an extensive and creative menu. - Edit
We've been a few times now and the service is always friendly. It's a very busy place which is a good sign of consistent quality in my personal opinion. It's super reassuring to know it's all plant based and also has great support for gluten free options. Be sure to get there early though as the good stuff sells out fast.
Read moreEach dish we have tried here always has that home cooked feel to it which gives the Mad Cucumber that home from home feeling that makes you feel very relaxed.
If anyone tells me where to go for vegan food in Bournemouth, this is always the first solid recommendation based on consistency and price.
Pros: Menu choices, Food quality, Service
Cons: Busy, Best foods sell out quick :)

Best in Bournemouth - Edit
Came here for lunch and absolutely loved it! Everything we tried was delicious but we especially loved the chocolate tart and ate many many slices. The cafe itself was really cute and we would definitely return - would love to try more of the amazing cakes 💚

My favourite spot - Edit
Living in Bournemouth, i’m used to the chains and what they have to offer, but this restaurant has become my favourite place to go.
Read moreThey have a range of dishes for breakfast and mains which mostly stay the same (with some seasonal differences) and then a specials board which includes new and interesting drinks.
Staff are lovely and very helpful, and create fresh gorgeous food with high quality ingredients. My favourite part about visiting here (excluding the fun decor and cosy atmosphere) is the cake section which changes slightly each time I visit, and is always full of fun new sweet treats to try😄
Pros: Menu for everyone, Good value, Lovely atmosphere
Cons: Menu could feature more classics

Super range and very friendly - Edit
A super restaurant with a huge selection of hot and cold food - spanning the whole spectrum between heathy whole to indulgent cakes. The interior is welcomingly eclectic with lots of books and a few games for children. Easy parking just round the corner and somewhere that pulls me from the main road past Bournemouth into town for a quick stop and refuel.

Needs improvement - Edit
Really happy to have found a 100% vegan place on our trip but the entire experience was a bit uncomfortable. The general atmosphere is like you’ve invaded someone’s private home and the staff make you feel a little like they’re doing you a favour.
Read moreThe food was 50/50. The garlic bread with cheese was quite nice but it was cheese on soggy seeded toast, not garlic bread. The mushroom and leek pasta was quite poor and it looked like a student had made it out of whatever they could find in the fridge. The 3 bean chilli was great. The nut roast was completely inedible. The house salad was good.
The staff are also quite argumentative if you raise an issue. All in all it was just a very awkward experience and I’m sad to say I don’t think I’d want to visit here again which is a shame as I always want to support vegan businesses first and foremost.
Pros: 100% vegan , 3 bean chilli is great, Lots of seating
Cons: Expensive for what it is, Amateur set up with impolite staff, Food was quite poor

Fabulous cafe! - Edit
The Mad Cucumber is a really great spot. I dithered for ages about what to have as everything sounded so tempting. I have never previously encountered such a extensive menu. In the end I settled for the mushroom stroganoff and it was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be back to try the aubergine and peanut dish and some of the many drinks available. The cafe has a relaxed casual vibe, with plenty of reading material available, children’s toys and they were playing some great music.

My first visit to mad cucumber - Edit
Went to couple of my non vegan friends to mad cucumber on Monday the 15th and I was not disappointed at all, far from it! Don’t think I’ve ever had such a mouth-wateringly delicious food!!! Absolute heaven , portion sizes are generous and prices very reasonable! Great selection of fab food that even my omnivore mates gulped down in a blink of an eye, lovely smoothies and good assortment of puddings- all nutritious and delectable! Their cheesecake is to die for, just melts in your mouth! Needless to say I’ll be going back ! Brilliant job guys 😍

Visited Mad Cucumber four times in the week we were there on holiday, three times was to have tea and cake, all clearly labelled with allergen information, making it easy to choose.

100% Vegan Perfection in Bournemouth - Edit
This is the fourth time I’ve been to this cafe/restaurant. If I lived closer I’d be here everyday. Convenient for the centre of town and shopping. Very laid back surroundings and music. Staff have assays been friendly and relaxed. If you like cake then the Vegan offerings are wonderful. No negatives to mention as all the food purchased has been delicious and filling. Prices are very reasonable for the quality.

Quirky decor, great atmosphere. Friendly service and great food. We had the vegan breakfast which was very tasty. Kids had Belgian waffles with squirty cream and fresh fruit covered in chocolate sauce! The looks on their faces when it arrived was a picture. They said it was the best breakfast ever!!
