What a gorgeous little cafe. Staff were so kind and loads of vegan options, even a little book library. Had a delicious peanut butter chocolate slice

The food here was so good and the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great.
Read moreI had the vegan big breakfast and every part of it was incredible it’s hard to pick a favourite but i think it was the hash cause I’m a potato lover.
The chai was also really good. It’s a loose leaf and they serve maple syrup on the side.
You have to go here it’s sooooo delicious

The food we didnt know we needed! - Edit
From the moment you walk into this establishment, you feel calm and well looked after. The food is delicious, with so many layers of flavour, and having a vegan option for a desert special was top notch. Will be heading here for breakfast before we leave and expect the flavours to be just as good

Good food - Edit
Updated review- I've gone here a few times recently and I feel like they have improved their vegan options. They have a lot of vegan and gluten free muffins, cakes etc which is great. Their laksa is also delicious.

Good food - Edit
A nice selection of vegan food, friendly & efficient service, and good vibes.
Read moreThere is a small outdoor section near the front door and a dog bed & bowl, so dog-friendly. Bar stools are very uncomfortable, though.
I recently had the Brussel sprout warm winter bowl and it was probably the best Brussel sprouts I have eaten. Bloody good!
Chips great, if you feel like something basic.
Good coffee and chai.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Yummy food, Small outdoor section for dogs
Cons: Outdoor section is only one table, Parking can be an issue.

Disappointing - Edit
Went there for a hearty breakfast after completing my Overland Track hike. I had the tofu scramble on sourdough. Unfortunately, can't say anything good about it. A quite small portion, very badly seasoned, didn't taste like scrambled eggs at all. I had to add heaps of salt and pepper to taste at least something. That bland it was! The place looks fancy but honestly, this was a big disappointment and I don't think I'd visit again, also because they didn't have that many vegan options.

What is this? Food for ants? - Edit
While the food was amazingly delicious, if im spending over $25 on a meal, I expect to be full. In saying that it was still reaaaaaally good.

Thank you kattyfigs for your review, portion size is definitely something we try to get right, our chefs appreciate the feedback and will definitely take it into consideration in the future. We are pleased the food was delicious though, thankyou!

Hugely Disappointing - Edit
After all the great food and coffee in Tassie, this place was such a disappointment. Can’t understand why it’s so popular.
Read moreI ordered the ‘scrambled tofu’, which stunk of egg - as though the chef hadn’t bothered to clean the grill between meals, despite specifying ‘vegan’ when ordering - despite being hungry and my last proper meal before a week of camping I didn’t eat it all, the thin row of greasy mushroom-and-tofu plonked over fried blocks of polenta tasted like nothing but too much salt and recycled egg.
Even the Spirit of Tasmania - despite having a captive audience - made a decent coffee, something beyond the capacity of these folk.
Pros: Friendly attentive service
Cons: Horrible almost inedible food , Cross-contamination with animal products , Bad coffee

Hi Tofulicious
Read moreI’m so sorry to read about your recent experience at Mad Apple. Our chefs take pride in the food we produce and it is disappointing to receive such a review. It is surprising to get a bad coffee review too, can I ask you what you coffee you had? I can guarantee there is no cross contamination in our kitchen as we respect people’s dietary choices or requirements. They use clean pans for scrambles.

Good lunch - Edit
Small menu (about 5 main dishes, some snacks and side dishes plus dessert), super friendly staff, nice interior design, more or less 50% with vegan option. The food and coffee we had were amazing.

Lovely lunch spot - Edit
Tasty food and great atmosphere. Multiple options for vegans, and a few things that are alterable. Generous with the tofu in the noodle dish I had, but not very many noodles considering it was a noodle dish and if I was very hungry I wouldn’t have felt satisfied. A little pricey for the size of the meal.

Too small a serving - Edit
I ordered the ($25) satay noodles. Although tasty (frankly, how could anything smothered in peanut sauce not be?), I was disappointed by the appearance of the dish (a little garnish with something green would have gone a long way) the "seasonal vegetables" (just grated carrot and shredded cabbage) and the size (I left still feeling hungry). HOWEVER I had to bump my rating from a 2 to a 3 because on my way out I grabbed a vegan lemon cake with lemon curd on top and it was both beautiful and delicious!

Arty, tasty and gourmet - Edit
Atmospheric decor with lots of attention to detail. Vegetarian restaurant with lots of vegan and gluten-free options. We had fritters, kimchi toasties and nasi goreng (vegan uses with tofu instead of egg). Sides were sweet potato chips and potato chips. The whole place was a great experience. I’d have have liked leaf tea instead of a teabag but that’s the only fault.

Nice café, vegan options could be better - Edit
This place was really cool and the staff were friend. Big space, lots of seating, beautiful vegetable garden when walking in.
Read moreWe got the breakfast burrito and the beans, both vegan by default. They were both nice, but neither one was outstanding. They seemed to be lacking in flavour a bit, and with all the competition out there today, I was hoping for better.
Great coffee (Happy Happy Soy Boy) and a really beautiful spot bumped this up to four stars for me, but definitely could be better.
Pros: Several vegan options, Good coffee, Veggie garden!
Cons: Not 100% vegan, Dishes were somewhat lacking
