Nothing to write home about

Went to this restaurant for lunch and it was pretty busy so suggest you make a reservation. The dim sum menu was in Chinese and the staff I encountered seemed to speak/understand minimal English.

We ordered dim sum and it was so-so, nothing exceptional. We ordered a lot of food for 7 people and the total bill came to be about HK$100 per person.

Pros: Location close to Yau Ma Tei MTR, A variety of dishes during dim sum, Fairly priced for dim sum

Cons: Limited English speaking staff, Food was okay, nothing exceptional

Thx for letting me in

That let me in rather late. I was lucky to find a place to eat. That said the food was very mediocre and rather expensive. Everything was very tastless and the veggies came from a can. Beggars can't be choosers. The staff is quite friendly and speak some English.

Pros: Staff is sort of friendly

Cons: Tastless, Expensive

My Favourite Cantonese and Shanghainese Vegetarian

I've been going to M Garden Vegetarian 常悅素食 for 15 years. I love the classic fine dining choices plus the best vegetarian dim sum around. My favorite are the crispy fried radish rolls.

It's a favourite place for Buddhists and my visiting vegetarian friends are always want to come back. My non-vegetarian friends love it to their surprise.

M Garden Vegetarian use plant-based meat alternatives made from soy, potato, konnyaku, mushroom, seitan. And these are textural and sumptuous, marrying with the flavours in the sauces and soups. I have a deep appreciation of their dedication to traditional fine Chinese cuisine and also to their creativity and style. Not to mention *15 years of high standards*... I'm not kidding ... You can taste the commitment to quality even in a simple dish of fried noodles.

Pros: Wide variety. Fresh ingredients. Dim Sum.

Cons: You'll order more! Cos it's so yummy.

A delightful Cantonese veg meal

A very nice bustling restaurant with white tablecloths and several tables. The veg sharks fin soup with pumpkin was a delicious taste sensation. Of note was the Thai flavored steamed tofu fish. This is probably the best veg Asian dish that I have ever tasted. All the dishes to we ordered were delicious with generous portions.

Pros: Pleasant dining room for a nice dinner, Delicious dishes, Helpful English servers

Cons: None.

Good choice for vegans

Huge selection of dishes including Chinese, Buddhist, Western. Some dishes have egg / milk so vegans must ask the waiter about their choice to make sure there are no surprises. As with almost any restaurant that has hundreds of selections, the dishes are not amazing but are definitely tasty.

Pros: Many vegan options. Also good if you are going wit

Cons: Need to double check each dish to make sure it has

M Garden Vegetarian

My experience of HK so far is that the majority of the big Chinese vego restaurants have no idea of the concept of veganism. This appears to be the case here.

I attended with a Cantonese speaker who explained our requirements. Our dish arrived with what appeared to be cheese sauce. On enquiring we were told that it was indeed... cheese sauce. The waitress was happy to take it back and give us a fresh portion. This I regretably must say though doesn't fill me with confidence they have the 1st idea what veganism is.

Excellent!

Wonderful find!

They now have the dim sum menu in English and the wait staff spoke a little English. They also speak Mandarin, so if you are comfortable in that language you're good to go!

Food was excellent and price about normal for this area. Highly recommended!

Pros: English menu, wait staff English functional, price

Good Dim Sm

Friendly staff and good veggie dim sum, some interesting choices, the normal menu is in English but their dim sum one isn't so best to know a few of the canto names for the dishes you like and ask the staff to help or do what we did and pay roulette, all veggie anyway!

Pros: Tasty, reasonably priced

Cons: no english dim sum menu
