Amazing - Edit

I had the jackfruit grain bowl and it was possibly the best vegan entree I have ever had at a restaurant! It was perfect! I can't wait to try their other vegan options. The service was excellent as well. Our server was very helpful and friendly. The food came out very fast too.

Pros: Excellent food, Great service, Nice atmosphere

Cons: None

These guys earned my vote! - Edit

On the last day of Durham's Vegan Challenge, I stopped at Luna. Looking at the entrees, I figured Luna had the greatest chance of also having gluten free options. The vegan challenge entree was! I tried that and shared the spicy corn nuts as an appetizer with my partner. When they brought the corn nuts out, they asked if I would like their special vegan mayo-like sauce, which was a great addition. I am so used to places just omitting the sauce for vegans instead of making a vegan friendly version. The sauce was great. I literally licked the little cup clean. My entree was beyond incredible. It was a slow cooked jackfruit in a coconut milk sauce over quinoa/plantain/pepita cakes with steamed broccoli on the side. I savored every last bit of that dish. Now I am committed to going back to try their other vegan options.

Interesting tidbit...the owners created the menu before they realized or took vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options into account. It was only after they had customers asking that they realized most of the menu was accommodating.

Jackfruit!!! - Edit

The jackfruit is wonderful. They also have three vegan sides. The service was friendly and fast too. This is a great option when dining with omnivores.

Pros: vegan items clearly marked on menu, friendly servers

Cons: downtown parking

great downtown option - Edit

There aren't many full-service restaurants in downtown that have creative vegan options, but Luna comes through! The menu is very clearly marked with V+ for Vegan and V for Vegetarian. Gluten-free (GF) is also clearly labeled.
The jackfuit grain bowl is delicious, and they prepare the jackfruit well and give generous portions of the quinoa, pearled barley, and black beans. They also have a vegan chili-lime "mayo" for another dish with the jackfruit, the patacon pisao. You can also order the arepas vegan, by asking for no cheese and get beans or jackfruit as the meat. Staff is friendly and helpful, and owners seem dedicated to providing good vegan options. Love the drink menu too!

Pros: vegan clearly marked, in the heart of downtown, well priced
