Hands down, tastiest vegan options in the area - Edit
The Hampton Roads area is not known for having Veg*n exclusive restaurants. And many of the places on Happy Cow that have vegan options include Gardien and Daiya products (probably due to PeTA being in the area). Luna Maya is NOT one of those places.
Luna Maya offers more authentic, Bolivian/Latin American food, than your average American Tex/Mex eatery. Their cooking techniques and flavor profile show a more unique perspective. Think more Rick Bayless than Plaza Azteca (a local Mexican chain). The place is a little more upscale and pricier than your average Tex/Mex, and it does it crowded and loud during peak dining hours. But they offer the tastiest vegan options in the area, no question about it. Chips are not free, and entrees run $12-14, so the prices are fairly moderate.
The menu is clearly delineated what is vegan, so no need to ask what you can eat or ask for a special menu. Don't expect Gardien and Daiya tacos (go to Tortilla West or Pelon's if that is the cheap/bar food you are looking for). Their burritos and enchiladas have unique fillings, and all their sides, rice, beans, potatoes, are uniquely seasoned. I hate using the word "unique" over and over again, but after going to dozens of TexMex places and getting bean burrito, hold the cheese, don't expect the run of the mill sides and flavors at Luna Maya.
Happy Cow only allows non-veg restaurants to have a max rating of 4. If you personally are ok eating at non-veg establishments, then there is simply no other place in the area that has veg*n food this good. I'm shocked no one else has even reviewed the place yet.
Pros: Best Tasting Food in area, Vegan Items Clearly Marked, Really, the food is that good.
Cons: Can get noisey
