One of my favorites in San Francisco

I go to Lucky Creation all of the time. I love the Lucky Creation Chow Mein, and the Mushrooms in Golden Nest is a must (if you like a variety of fresh and dried mushrooms). The Tofu/Pepper/Eggplant is also mouth-watering wonderful. And their Wheat Gluten Puffs are all really tasty (though sweetened). Their Vegetarian Goose is one of my favorites anywhere. Very reasonably priced.

Pros: Really good vegan versions of authentic Chinese , Reasonably priced

Surprisingly good!

Rounded up from 4.5 stars.
Although this restaurant wasn’t on our shortlist initially, we loved it.
Best spring rolls ever, also had the sweet & sour pork and Singapore noodles. Very filling and affordable.
They do take card, but charge 3% more than when paying with cash.

Pearl of the Orient

This place oozes local charm. There are only about half a dozen tables and Asian customers abound. Don't miss the wheat puff appetizer plate. It us much more than the name implies.

Pros: Wheat puff appetizer, Huge portions. Most things are big enough to share, The Blake mushrooms appear to be fresh, not rhydra

Cons: No pictures on the menu

The sweet and sour “pork” was the best!

Lots of options. Wasn’t really sure what we were ordered based off the menu, but it gave us the opportunity to explore! Our favorite was the sweet and sour “pork”. Very good food.

O restaurante é simples e me pareceu bem tradicional. O atendimento foi muito prestativo e a meu prato veio borbulhando direto da cozinha. Além de gostoso, também foi uma refeição bem farta.

Pros: Totalmente vegano, Comida saborosa, Muitas opções

All cash

All cash which isn’t the biggest deal but be aware! I like this place a lot. No frills and just good food. One item has honey on the menu. Would stop by again.

Best Vegan Cantonese in SF

This unapologetically Cantonese veggie spot is amazing. Small but cozy, with owners and workers that really care for their customers. Come with a small party as seating is limited but take out is available.

We started with their Fried Taro Rolls which were deep-fried tofu skin wrapped around mushy pieces of taro and served with a sweet dipping sauce. It was a combination I was a fan of and a great snack to start our meal. It also wasn't super heavy like tempura and retained the texture of a standard egg roll.

For our mains, we ordered their Braised Veggies in Claypot and Sautéed Black Mushrooms in Bean Curd Rolls (plus Bok Choy as a bonus!) My goodness was everything here full of umami flavor and color. The claypot dish was expectedly piping hot so pair it with a side of brown rice. The bean curds were our favorite for sure - loved the texture and amount of food that we got as well. While a little more on the saltier side, it was all phenomenal and something I want more now.

They also sell gluten and soy meats at the front (referred to as their vegan dim sum) plus some Moon Cakes with different fillings. If I was a bigger fan of moon cakes, I would've spent a bit more to buy one or two. The selections looked great and there's so much variety here.

Cash only which means they are able to offer lower prices. Come on through and support this local family owned establishment.

Pros: Amazing Cantonese vegan cuisine

Cons: Cash only, Very tiny dining area

Great food for very cheap

We visited around half way through the pandemic and really enjoyed the food. This is possibly the cheapest restaurant I've been to in San Francisco. It's certainly not a place for a fancy date, but it's a great place to eat well for a great value. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff was very friendly.

Small vegan restaurant with an extensive menu. The lady told us as soon as we entered the restaurant that all dishes are without meat and fish😄The food was very tasty and not too expensive.

Lucky stop

This restaurant is entirely plant based and has been at same location for decades. We had the potstickers (our favorite dish of the day), sweet and sour “pork”, and the black mushroom and greens noodles. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone needing a Chinese food fix.

Pros: All plant based, Generous portions, Great location in heart of Chinatown

Cons: Closes at 4:00

1996 Prices

Look, this place isn’t the spot for a fancy dinner date. But if you want quick, inexpensive, tasty Chinese food, this is your spot. The staff are friendly, the portions are good, and the food is authentic (as far as I can tell by the 10 Chinese grandmas we saw cycling through here in the hour we spent eating lunch—a good sign!)

Pros: All vegan, Very affordable!

Cons: Cash only , Small

Mixed feelings

So the place feels very authentic and their jasmine tea was good. But the food I ordered - fried noodles with vegetables and mushrooms- wasn't great. I felt very disappointed, because i was so hungry and didn't enjoy my meal at all. But my husband had the fried rice and he liked it vey much, so maybe I was just unlucky with my meal.

Pros: Authentic atmosphere , Good tea

Cons: Excepts only cash, my food was bland and not good, The place didn't look very clean

So disappointing

Based on the other reviews we were excited to try their creations, unfortunately it was very underwhelming. The wheat gluten sampler (served cold) and bean curd roll had potential, but the flavor was lacking. The amount of oil might have contributed to to the blandness. We were there close to closing at 3:50 pm, maybe an off day.

Pros: Lots of options , Good portions

Cons: Cash only, Bland

I cannot wait to come back!

With so many restaurants to go to in SF we went back twice in our short trip.
The ladies working here are super sweet! The place is a little gem, a hole in the wall kind of place and I cannot recommend it enough.

Pros: All vegan! , Delicious , Great Prices

Cons: Short open hours! , Only cash , Few tables! So come in early!
