Cosy, atmospheric café - Edit
The food and drinks are really good! We had a coffee and matcha latte, which were both great, but the matcha was especially good. We unfortunately missed lunch by a few minutes (It ends at 2.30 o’clock.) and instead had carrot cake (The frosting with cinnamon made it.) and a very indulgent choco fudge shortbread.

Tasty food, great environment - Edit
Lots of options and all totally vegan. Very tasty and interesting stuff they're doing e.g. chickpea "omelette".

Best eggs I ever had - Edit
I don't understand the bad reviews here. Very delicious food, very good coffee, the pancakes with bacon and eggs (best I ever had) were really tasty, even the seitan was homemade, everything was very quick, and the service was very attentive.
Read moreOn top of that, the restaurant has a very special charm and, above all, it genuinely feels vegan out of conviction. A few more milk alternatives would be nice. I would come back anytime.
Pros: Wide Selection, Everything homemade, Great pancakes, best egg I ever had
Cons: A few more milk alternatives would be nice

Didn’t taste good - Edit
I sadly didn’t like my order at all. I had a matcha and a berry cake. Both I couldn’t even finish. I‘m usually not that picky but the matcha didn’t seem like good quality and my cake seemed raw and tasted like sand.

I‘m sorry to give such a bad review

Everything was delicious! The place was also very neat to look around at. Only thing was that it was packed.

Lucifer Lives is good. I’m waiting for it to be great. - Edit
As most vegans living in Brussels will let you know: it’s rare to find a fully vegan bakery around these parts – much rarer still to find a nice and affordable vegan bakery! Lucifer Lives is a nice runner-up to that place, but unfortunately it is still lacking. The menu is very limited (plenty of drinks but only three menu options whatever sweets are available on the counter). The prices will make you double take to check if it’s a typo (18€ for three pancakes and fruit?). The sweets on display are quick to run out and are seldom replaced throughout the day, so be there first or cry there last. The working hours are fairly restrictive. In sum, it’s got so much potential, but the community is forced to foot the bill for the lack of alternatives, again.

Pros: Nice café atmosphere
Cons: Lack of options, Pricey options

Thanks so much for your feedback! At Lucifer Lives, everything is homemade with love — we’re a small neighborhood café, not a big commercial bakery. Having a huge menu often means using frozen or mass-produced products, which we prefer to avoid to keep things fresh and high quality. We’re always working to improve and appreciate your support and patience as we grow

Food is nice, inflexible behavior rules not so much - Edit
I ate a large meal, I gave a decent tip, I ordered a drink afterwards ... And when I quickly wanted to catch-up on some mails, even before receiving my drink, I was approached by the staff that they do not allow laptops. If a guest sits for an hour while ordering just one coffee, fine. But everything else is harassment. Sorry guys, some people work 14 hours a day on business trips and would prefer not having to answer emails until midnight. So I have to hold this against you.

Easy spot - Edit
I really liked the vibes of the cafe but I can’t justify the price😮💨 I got an espresso and the breakfast sandwich it was almost 32 USD (€26). I would definitely come back to try the pastry’s but wouldn’t get lunch again. Haven’t found vegan croissants so that was exciting!

Lovely brunch spot - Edit
Enjoyed a tasty brunch here. Lovely guy who ran/owns it I think, lots of care given to the menu and ingredients and shows in the food. The croissant was delicious, and “egg” salad was a cold scrambled tofu on toast but really delicious all the same. If in the area, definitely stop by!

We had a delicious lunch here!
Read moreA 100% vegan business that is decorated with posters and videos of 80s (horror) movies. A great place for breakfast and/or lunch.
When we got there it was busy, but we didn't have to wait long for a free table.
Highly recommended!

Great Local Vegan Cafe - Edit
My wife and I had breakfast here while in Brussels. It is located about a 20 minute walk away from the Grand Place. Very "hip" interior with a coffee shop vibe, with horror movie posters on the walls. My wife ordered the scrambled eggs, bacon and pancake breakfast while I went with just a toasted bagel. The staff was friendly and spoke English. My wife's hot chocolate was very rich and tasty! Her breakfast was very good. We will definitely stop here again the next time we're in Brussels!

Doesn't taste like egg..... It tastes better! - Edit
Ordered the toast with the tofu scrambled eggs. At first I was disappointed when I realized the dish was served cold, but when I tried it the tofu tasted so creamy and delicious. Also, all desserts looked good. Would definitely return to have breakfast if I go back to Brussels

Super spot ! - Edit

Not that great - Edit
It's a lovely spot and the staff are very friendly. However, we didn't love the taste of the food or how processed some of it seemed to be. The zucchini soup had an earthy taste that was a bit weird. The quiche was made of bits of cheddar cheese that had that rubbery, artificial taste, like it came straight from a packaged grocery store cheese. The sandwich was good, but the cheese also had a bit of a artificial flavor. The potatoes were the best part of the dish, very well cooked and seasoned. Overall, a heavy meal that I wish were lighter and felt more natural, especially considering the price and the hype.

Pumpkin spice cake is to die for 🎃 - Edit
I visit them every time I am in Brussels. Such a nice place with original vibe, extremely friendly staff and delicious food. Cakes are absolutely perfect, so is the coffee. It is always super busy (i am not surprised), but it's worth to visit and even wait for a spot. Totally recommend!

Fig cheesecake 6€

The cheesecake - WOW! I've had so many vegan ones and this one was actually amazing. The fig matches so well.
I came back a week later, 14:36, lunch ends at 14:30. I informed them that I just ran here for a kilometer to make it in time (I thought lunch ended at 15) and so the waitress asked the kitchen if I could still get the offer of the day, and veerry kindly, they said yes! Thank you sooo much for that! I actually didn't know what the options would be before I came but I'd been craving mashed potatoes so this was perfect.
The dish itself needed some salt and tabasco, otherwise it was really good. For the price, maybe add some more seitan because it was 3/4 mushrooms but still tasty.
The tiramisu cake was creamy and sweet. The biscuits either gave coconut-sugar or biscoff vibes, I couldn't decide. But a little caramel-y. Soooo delicious.
And the cookie was the perfect late night snack, really hit the spot with the PB on top. I reaaally recommend the food here.

Disappointed - Edit
I had my expectations high for this place since I had read that it was an award-winning spot, but my Flemish stew was boring (and one of the dumplings was undercooked and inedible), and the orange blossom match was watery and lacking in both flavors. At least the fries and mayo were good. Restrooms are downstairs.

Lucifer has an unique style to it and seems like a comfy place to hang out with your vegan crew.
Read moreYou order at the bar.
Prices are rather impressive, even though it’s homemade. Matcha drinks are about 7€, cookies and small cake around 5€.
My kimchi egg salad (open face) sandwich with a small side salad was 14€. It was good, but I was really missing black salt (aka kala namak), in my opinion mandatory for every egg-like vegan dish! Would have taken the sandwich to another level :)
Staff is welcoming.
It can be busy, therefore it took some time until we received our order.
