Great Beninese veg good - Edit
So I am loooong overdue in posting my review. I hope that no information has changed, since I went to Loving Hut around 9 months ago...
Read moreThe owner has several 'Loving Hut' restaurants in Porto Novo; I went to 2 when I was there -- he drove me to show me the other one! This location was pretty close to where the map shows, but you might need to ask around; it's on the north side of the street.
In theory, another 'Loving Hut' was in the process of opening when I was in PN (I was a bit fuzzy on the details of who would own that one). In any case, it's a very high proportion of veg places for a city of this size.
I had several varieties of veg versions of Beninese food, and it was all terrific! And inexpensive. Honestly, I would have eaten there every meal if it made sense for me.
They were fairly empty places, but another customer might wander in on occasion. The cooks/ servers were really nice, too! Finally, you can find packaged veg items, like soymilk, there, too (a bit expensive, but these are obviously expensive imports...).
Highly recommended, and a great way to support the local veg movement.
Pros: Versions of local/ West African dishes, Tasty, Inexpensive
Cons: May have to ask around to find
