Great vegan food in Kathmandu - Edit
The only 100% vegan restaurant in Kathmandu. Has a range of meals including great breakfast options (muesli and fruit with soy milk, porridge, burrito, tofu omelette, tofu scramble and pancakes with chocolate and banana. Inexpensive, good portions and delicious! Staff speak good English and are very helpful. Modern and clean decor.

Excellent Vegan Fusion in Asia - Edit
I love this place. Medicine for the soul: every time in Kathmandu I come here. Food made by the vegan chefs with dedication and love. Local Nepali dishes with seitan or tofu, or vegan variations on continental. Try the V’egg or Tofu Stairs. Or if you want to try vegan Nepali get the Seitan Chow Mein or Vegan Momos. I can’t wait to visit the new location. Namaste!

One of the first Vegan restaurant in Nepal. The owner has a big loving heart and treats her customers liKe family. yes, the restaurant has had its ups and downs, part of it is because they had to change locations a lot.
Read moreI ordered Shakshouka, Buddha Bowl and Smoothie bowl (Breakfast). It was amazing.
The service time has started to pick up. Hey if it doesn't. Remember good things in life require patience.
Her story is amazing. despite her struggles, she has remained strong.
You can enjoy the small library, enjoy soft jazz music..

Large space, rooftop and in a quiet part of Thamel, owned by a warm lady who is a lifelong vegan. A ten year old first vegan restaurant opened in Nepal. Food selection and service is very good. Their ice cream flavors not to be missed

Disappointing - Edit
I was very disappointed after having read all the superb reviews. The soy masala tea tasted weird, the atmosphere was odd, and as they only have outdoor seating available (too cold in winter), I didn't go back to try out their dinner.

Good food, nice ambiance - Edit
Menu with varied dishes. Today, for the fourth time, I had the ‘mo: mo: soup’ and for the first time the ‘soya fysh sticks’.
Read moreThe broth of the soup is tasty and full of flavors. The momos are fresh and delicious and have the perfect structure and softness. Today, and actually the last time as well, I found the broth less rich and therefore less tasty. Today, also it seemed like the momos were not homemade at all. The dough was thicker than before, 'tougher,' and the filling was definitely different. It seemed somewhat factory-made and definitely not artisanal. The shape of the momos was too identical. I suspected that the momos were not homemade this time, but when asked, the staff told me that the taste was different because they had a new chef. I'm not so sure about it yet...
The soy fysh sticks were tasty, but they don't live up to their name. They were actually cubes of fried tofu with very minimal seaweed flakes on top of it. Still, a good source of protein though and quite flavorful.
Overall, I think Loving Heart is a nice and cozy place to enjoy vegan food. If you sit upstairs on the terrace, it's advisable to ask them to turn on the ceiling fan because with the sun on the flat roof, it can get quite warm. Downstairs on the covered terrace, it's cooler anyway.
During two earlier occasions, there were some youngsters with a big boombox playing loud dance music, with heavy bass and vibrations that you could feel in your body. Not really what you want when you're eating. When another guest asked if it could be turned down a bit, the music was almost immediately turned off. Gladly, because I didn't come for clubbing... : )
Overall, I still recommend Loving Heart. The ambiance is cozy, the food is good and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Pros: Good vegan food, Nice atmosphere , Friendly staff
Cons: The quality and taste of the dishes varies a lot

Dessert was lacking - Edit
I had high hopes for this place but the ice cream sorbet we ordered was sadly very lacking.
Read moreThe texture was too loose and the taste too weird. It didn't sit well in our stomachs.
The fruit was the best part of the sorbet.
A very good portion/price rate, though.
Maybe the savory dishes of this place are much better; I just wouldn't recommend the ice cream.
Pros: nice and quiet place, portion/price rate
Cons: long waiting time for a place that was empty, not so good ice cream

Another stop on my vegan tour of Kathmandu - Edit
Throughly loving my Vegan tour of Kathmandu. I have a few more stops and there are a few vegan restaurants to choice from. Some I’ve visited more than once. The tofu stairs with Nepali flavors was delicious the minty lemonade was refreshing ordered two. The vegan 🌱 queen 👸 can not be missed I’m not sure the flavor of ice cream but it tasted floral with blueberry hints and cookie crumble with apple and banana 🍌 definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

This is the oldest vegan restaurant in Kathmandu if not Nepal. I enjoyed eating here on at least 4 occasions. The momos, chow mein and kombucha are amazing, but the best thing i’ve had in the whole of Nepal is the smoothie bowl from here, which I recommend to everyone visiting!
