Loving Heart is great. Shakti who runs and owns it with her sister is the sweetest soul on the planet and damn can they create dishes with love. A little tricky to find, highly recommend.

Pros: cheap, quality food, made with love

Good time - Edit

I unfortunatly discover the place after my lunch, so I couldn't eat for a second time. But I have tried croissant, brioches and soya milk, all home made. It was good and I was happy to eat them cause it is not often I can eat those in the daily life.
The owner speak good English (as the cook) and we had a nice chat about being vegan..

Pros: Good people, English

Best food I ever had! - Edit

This is simply the best vegan restuarent in Nepal. The food is amazing, includes homemade soymilk and other delicious food. The staff is extremely kind and helpfull. Their vision is to reduce suffering and nothing else. I was so impressed by this family, offering everything they have to take loans etc to run this place. Yesterday when I went there they were giving a free vegan meal to more than 60 construction workers at bodhanath stupa. Im speechless

Pros: Food is amazing, Staff is generous and kind, The cause in it self is very good

You have to try the AMAZING food here! - Edit

The food at Loving Heart is absolutely delicious. Samu, the owner and chef, is a generous and kind hearted person.

The Brown Rice Khana Set Special is mind-blowingly delicious! It was one of the best meals I ate during my twelve-day stay in Kathmandu. Great value for money - the set meal (which is very filling) cost less than 400 rupees (US $3.70).

Loving Heart is a must try!

Pros: Delicious Nepali home style cooking, Lovely service from the owner

100% vegan and delicious - Edit

Everything on the menu is 100% vegan. The food is fantastic, and the prices are very low. This is probably the best place to get guaranteed-vegan local cuisine in Nepal.

The owner/chef understands well the meaning of vegan. She learned to cook from the organization that runs the international Loving Hut chain of vegan restaurants. She cooks Nepali style vegan food that's uniquely wonderful. It felt like we were eating a home-cooked meal. Soooo delicious.

The restaurant isn't hard to find. It's almost across the street from a landmark every taxi driver should know called Sherpa Sewa Kendra, so ask a taxi to take you to that location and then look for the restaurant's sign just 5 to 10 meters up the street. To get to the restaurant you enter a doorway just off the sidewalk, walk down a hallway, and go up stairs. There's a sign on the facade of the building, and another sign on the sidewalk, and another in the hallway that indicate the restaurant's location.

The owner speaks pretty good English and is super friendly and generous, but not intrusive. She offered us more rice and dahl after we finished a couple dishes. The portions were already so generous we could barely eat everything she served us.

The restaurant is clean and pleasant.

Pros: everything on the menu is 100% vegan!, super friendly owner who speaks English, generous servings of food

Best vegan restaurant in town - Edit

I went to Loving Heart tonight. I had a vegan curry and a side of mushroom pakoras. Curry was delicious and the mushroom pakoras were exceptional! Deep fried but still light and tasty. The owner Shakti and his sister are amazing hosts. Shakti is very interested in getting more mock meats in the menu to help get Nepalis to eat less meat. That was very exciting to see! If you are Kathmandu, then Loving Heart is a must stop!

Pros: Affordable, owners understand vegan, delicious foo

Only all vegan restaurant, I know of, in Nepal - Edit

We stayed for 4 nights, in the Boudha area of Kathmandu. The restaurant is located, upstairs, in a building near the Boudhanath Stupa. The hallway to the stairs is dark and dreary, but don't be scared. Go up the stairs. Go!

The owners, Shakti and his sister, Samu are the sweetest people you will ever meet. Shakti is also a travel guide and I highly recommend his services. He will make sure you get actual vegan food and have the time of your life doing it.

We ate every meal there, for our 4 night stay. We stayed right around the corner, at Sangbos's Guesthouse (he's also vegan), which we also highly recommend. Contact him here: https://www.facebook.com/wegainzone

Anyway, the food was always great and very cheap. Please go and support this great place. Oh, and take a cooking class, while you're there.
