Birthday Treat

Went here for a birthday treat and was not disappointed. You do need to make a reservation at least 3 days in advance, but it's easy to do online or on the phone (just ask for someone who speaks English and they'll help you out). Everything was both beautiful and delicious. The menu changes seasonally

Vegan afternoon tea!

My friends and I really enjoyed the experience. We were able to try a variety of sweets and savory dishes. They also offered complimentary TWG Tea flavors if I remember correctly, there were around 4 or 5 different types available. They had soy lattes and coffee as well.

Amazing vegan afternoon tea 🥺

First, be aware you need a RESERVATION! Call ahead and reserve, specify you want the vegan afternoon tea, and you’ll have zero issues. Unfortunately due to prep you can’t just show up and order it.
That being said I’ve always wanted to experience an afternoon tea with all the little dishes and this was an amazing once in a lifetime memory!
We visited in Winter so it was an autumnal theme featuring chestnuts, pumpkin, apples, etc.
You get 2 hours to eat and relax and drink as much tea or coffee as you like.
Highly recommend for the experience!

Pros: Quiet atmosphere, Amazing unique flavors, Great service

Cons: You might struggle if you can’t speak any Japanese, Reservation required, No vegan menu besides tea service

No vegan items bad service

While there are vegetarian items the waitress did not seem to understand what vegan was even though I explained it and requested she ask the chef which of the vegetarian items were vegan. I don’t want to just have an item with ingredients left out as that usually is not as good. Especially for the price here.

Note that this was not the Japanese staff member.

I would suggest going somewhere else although there is t much nearby.

Fabulous Birthday Experience

My husband and I booked the Autumn Vegan Afternoon Tea at the Lounge at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel for my birthday, and it was a fabulous experience!
We were served two sweets plates and one savory plate with small bites representing flavors of the season. It was obvious that a lot of attention was given to all the details, and both the look and the taste was incredible! The food came with unlimited coffee and tea that were also exquisite!
It is a pricy experience, but I highly recommend it for a special occasion!

Edit: We went once again for our anniversary and had the Spring Vegan Afternoon Tea. It was lovely!

luxurious vegan afternoon tea at hotel

Many Japanese hotels, restaurants and cafes serve afternoon tea now, but it is still quite rare to find a vegan version of it.
Tokyo Marriott Hotel's Lounge & Dining G offers vegan afternoon tea all year round, three times a day (10:30- / 13:00- / 15:30-) in a comfortable spacious atrium lounge, and the menu is renewed every season.
We had a summer version consisting of 4 savories (soup, omelette, pasta and mini burger) and 9 sweets (jelly, cupcake and many others!), which are all beautifully presented in a bite-size portion and described in English on the menu.
8470 yen may sound pricey, but it is an average price for afternoon tea at hotel.
As for drinks, they have 8 types of TWG's flavoured tea, 3 types of original herbal tea and 5 types of coffee, but you can switch drinks and order as many as you like.
The hotel is situated on the quiet hill of Gotenyama and free shuttle bus service is available from Shinagawa Station, but it takes less than 10 minutes on foot and I enjoyed walking down the hill after spending relaxing and luxurious time, sitting for a couple of hours.
An advanced reservation is required.
