100% Vegan! 😆 - Edit
Lotus is now 100% vegan, as well as 100% exceptionally soul and tummy satisfying.
Lotus is by far my most favorite spot for dining out, or for grabbing a quick, healthy take-out meal for that matter. It feels so great to open a menu where I can literally order everything and anything without worrying if it is vegan or not. The food is beyond delicious at Lotus. I'm guilty of indulging at least three times a week, sometimes more, for lunch or dinner. I'm pretty sure between my boyfriend and I, we have ordered just about every dish on the menu, multiple times, and love everything.
One of the best parts about Lotus is my non-vegan/veggie friends and family don't even put up a fuss about going and even look forward to the vegan buffet every third Saturday. Do yourself a favor while you're there and don't pass up on one of the fresh juices or smoothies, they are out of this world! If this is your first visit to Lotus, it most certainly will not be your last. Cannot recommend enough!
Pros: Amazing taste in my mouth, Super happy belly, Love the owners and staff

Under new management - Edit
Though it has new owners and a different menu, they still have many of the old favorites. The sweet and sour tofu wasn't that great. But the vegan chicken wings were awesome! And the crispy noodle was fantastic (though I prefer a soft noodle). Definitely going back, but it's not as good as it used to be. The owners/staff were very nice and helpful. Love that they have vegan desserts!
Pros: All vegan, Great prices, Convenient location
Cons: Some mediocre dishes

New Management and Menu!!! - Edit
I have been coming here for about a year and today discovered that much has changed since December. First of all the menu is vastly changed and old favorites are hard to find among many new items. This is not necessarily bad but I was looking forward to vegan noodles. Japanese Soba Noodles was very light and flavorful. Crispy noodles was pretty good. The sweet and sour tofu was a tad bland. There are now deserts on the menu which is nice. The new staff was friendly and fairly attentive. However there was nearly nothing for my gluten intolerant mother- no rice noodles unless requested. Overall we were a bit disappointed after previously loving it here.
Pros: Reasonable Prices
Cons: Limited Gluten Free Options

Very good and very fresh. - Edit
This was the first place we tried while in the Tampa Bay region. According to the staff everything is now VEGAN which is always nice not to have to worry about. My wife and I had the spring rolls for an appetizer which were excellent with the peanut sauce. We had the sweet and sour tofu which was a little on the bland side and the udon noodles which were good. The staff were very friendly and the service was fast. We went during an off hour so there were just a few other diners there. All in all it was a good experience and if we lived in the area we would definitely be back.
Pros: Fast service, Friendly Staff, Great vegan desserts and appetizers.
Cons: One dish a bit bland.

Picture Perfect in Pinellas Park - Edit
My wife & I had seen multiple glowing reviews of this place, so on a recent trip through the area (on 1/21/15) we decided to stop in, and were not disappointed. Everything was really great, but the one dish that stood out was the Congee— something that I make at home with shiitake and (real) wild mushrooms, so I wanted to make a comparison. Far and away, this was the best version of this dish I've had in a restaurant to date. The entire dinner was great, and with a total bill of less that $40 (including tax) for both of us, all-in-all, the place deserves a top rating.
Pros: Great food , Good service

New Favorite Vietnamese Restaurant! - Edit
I had passed by Lotus a few times and saw the signs saying it was vegetarian, but the location and non-descript building threw me off and didn't really attract me. How wrong I was. Never judge a book by the cover.
Walked in and immediately greeted with friendly service. It helped that everything on the menu was vegan (or could be made vegan if for some reason it wasn't already). With no worries about the status of the meals, I could ask for a recommendation from the server. She told me what her favorite was and I ordered that - so good. Make sure to ask for employee favorites. My partner ended up getting a Bahn Mi that wasn't even on the menu and was absolutely delicious.
As someone who doesn't always eat vegetarian, I know that some places put less effort into vegan dishes and the result is a more bland taste. Not here. The dishes have great nuanced and full flavors. Delicate and strong at the same time. Some of the best I've had.
One drawback - the avocado smoothie was bland - not enough avocado. I may go back and give feedback and ask if that's just how they make it or if they weaken the flavor to fit western tastes. I did get a look of surprise when I ordered a durian smoothie so you may have to specify what you like so they don't make assumptions.
Overall, extremely friendly and gracious service, amazing food, and peace of mind. This is my new favorite Vietnamese spot.
Pros: food, service, price
Cons: building/appearance, bland avocado smoothie, trying really hard to think of cons...

AB-FAB - Edit
Went with a carnivore friend, he had a pho bowl with tempeh beef and tofu, he loved it. My meal was vegan noodles and Thai tea with almond milk. We shared the spring rolls, it was perfect portions and delish! I will be back often! Even the water was citrus infused and so refreshing on a Florida summers day.
Pros: Everything...
Cons: Non existant

LOVED IT. DELICIOUS! - Edit
Let the raving begin! I found Lotus using my Happy Cow App and I think it's my new favorite place!
This restaurant is on a major intersection (Park Blvd. and 66 Street/693) in Pinellas Park (in between Clearwater and St. Petersburg). There’s a lot of traffic and congestion in the area. But, once you enter the restaurant, all that noise goes away. It is clean, and friendly and peaceful in there. You are warmly greeted by who I believe was the owner (she was there both days I went).
The first day I ate here, I ate at lunch time. I would highly recommend going at lunch time because you get AWESOME lunch specials at ridiculously low prices ($5.99, and it includes the main course, rice, spring roll and a yummy veg soup – it’s an unbelievable bargain and plenty of food). (See my photo of the lunch menu.)
I got the sweet and sour tofu with white rice. Oh, it was just so delicious. The tofu was breaded and the flavor was amazing. It comes with peppers but I left them out and added carrots instead. They customized the dish to accommodate me and I appreciate that. The veggie soup had a wonderful flavor; it was really, really good. And, the spring roll was wonderful too.
My friend had the tofu curry. It was quite good too and she loved it. Hers also came with the spring roll, soup, and rice (lunch special). We both ate a hearty meal for $12!
We ate here also for dinner the next night (yes, it was THAT good). We both had the same thing again, the sweet and sour tofu. Thing is, at night the prices go up a bit, but it is twice as much food. It comes with the rice, but not the veg soup. We shared a bowl of sweet and sour soup which had celery, okra, and some other good stuff. But, it was a tad spicy for my liking; my friend loved it. We also had a really good pot of green tea. The prices at night range from about $8 to $13. Still, it is an amazing value.
The restaurant is impeccably clean. There is only one server (and, again, I think she might be the owner). She is fantastic – she continually brings out water and tends to your needs; she was really a very kind, pleasant person.
Don’t let the traffic, congestion and not-so-pretty buildings in the area scare you off. It’s a great restaurant and even meat-eaters will come away satisfied. The menu is huge and an entire family can eat there for a reasonable amount of money.
I'll be back when I am in the area again - for sure!
Pros: Cheap, Delicious food, Clean place with good service
