A great variety of delicious options

A shady, pleasant place with a variety of creative and vibrant food and drink kiosks, just off one of the biggest streets in San Juan. I visited in March 2020 and again in December 2021, and both times most of the kiosks had at least one vegan option - great for groups with varied diets who can't make up their minds (for example, me and four of my family members). Dining is outdoor, at picnic tables, and our COVID vaccination cards were checked before we came in.

On my most recent visit I had a soursop mojito from Caneca, which was greyish and weird-looking and absolutely delicious, like soursop juice usually is. My husband had a parcha (passionfruit) drink instead, which I can verify was also delicious - weirdly, he did not want any of mine😄. I ate a sublime vegan arepa from Budare - a Venezuelan style arepa rather than Puerto Rican style (Venezuelan arepas are corn pancakes split and filled with delicious fillings; Puerto Rican arepas are more like frybread). I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what was in it; I was transported with rapture and did not take notes. My sister had the vegan mofongo (seasoned mashed green plantains, a traditional Puerto Rican dish) from El Cuchifrito, which was also excellent. It's hard to find mofongo on the US west coast, where I live, so I eat a lot of it when I'm visiting PR, and El Cuchifrito's is some of my favorite.
