Vegan tolerant rather than vegan friendly - Edit
No vegan cheese so no pizzas. One or two pasta dishes were vegan or possible to be made vegan. Both dishes were very plain, just pasta and chopped tomatoes.

Also I was told by the server there is no tap water... not sure if they have no water supply or no taps! €6.50 for my bottle of water 🤦🏻

There were a few vegan options & I chose spaghetti pomodoro. It came & had no sauce but I assumed this was how it was, halfway through the waiter informed me I had the wrong dish. I don’t think it has any butter in it but I don’t speak German so was difficult to convey. They seemed to mess up a few orders.

Also die Pizza Margherita war relativ lecker. Es war echt voll und wir mussten die Pizzen mitnehmen. Eine hat 14€ mit veganem Mozzarella gekostet, zwar recht teuer aber dafür war die auch echt gross.

A busy restaurant, with a welcome change - Edit
Being a veggie and a vegan on holiday in Austria can be difficult amongst all the meat and cheese, and menus with confusing details. L’Osteria was an excellent find, providing clear menus with veggie/vegan symbols, and “verde” sections so that you can keep away from the meat and fish (just make sure they give you a menu with English ingredients).
Read moreWe came on a Monday night, when some other restaurants in Salzburg have the day off, so the waiters were very busy, and the queue was out the door and down the street (best get there before 7pm on Monday), but once we were sat down, we were delighted for such delicious food at a fairly decent price. It was so good, we even got excited and ordered too much, and took some home. Also, big props to the waiters who were working very hard to accommodate everyone.
Pros: Clear veggie/vegan items on the menu, A good range of choice, Helpful staff
Cons: Quite a busy evening, and harried staff, Seats were close together, so you get knocked

Good that they had some vegan cheese on their pizzas, but definitely not as many vegan options as I was expecting from either the description on here or their website. The waiter also didn't seem to know or care what veganism was, he kept checking that we ate "real cheese", and bringing non-vegan parmesan to the table.

I was there three times and they only had vegan cheese once. The pizza was pretty good but the cheese isn't that great.
