Unpleasant experience - Edit

Overall, avoid this place. The cafe is extremely swelteringly hot, even with the air conditioning on. It is because of the open kitchen, which also means all your clothes will reek of fried food afterwards. Their food is not cheap. Finally, the rude manager/owner overcharged us for dessert (which was hugely overpriced in the first place) and made it feel like it was our fault. Only when I protested and explained why it was their mistake, did they realise it was their fault but by then, the whole experience had turned horrible. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

tasty burgers with japanese flavors - Edit

From the name and description we expected a bit of a foreigner-hub, but were positively surprised to be the only non locals. Food is western style (salad, burgers, muffins, coffees, lattes,...) but with asian flavors (ginger burger, teryaki, miso dressing, etc). Nice place!

High class vegan American/Japanese food! - Edit

Small but lovely place. The food is cooked right behind the bar, damn nice!
I got the full set burger plate with the teriyaki chicken type burger.
Salad was yum! Soup was good if a bit little / thin. The burger was super nice, the brown bun was so delicious, fluffy and slightly sweet! I ate every bit and crumb and left happy and satisfied!

Pros: everything is vegan; a lot of options; high qualit

Cons: worth it, but pricey

A story of great food and perseverance - Edit

After two visits in two days, I'm not sure which is more incredible about Los Angeles: the food or the backstory of this place - but more on that later. During our visit to lovely Kanazawa, we had lunch and diner at this little all-vegan restaurant just north of the Kanazawa Castle. The chicken teryaki and the BBQ tempeh burgers were both delicious with excellent (spicy) sauce and bread. For diner we had the same burgers, but on a plate with brown rice, pumpkin soup and a very rich salad. We had a nice chat with the owner, who told us that he evacuated the north of Japan after the devastating earthquake in 2011, which destroyed the nuclear plant in Fukushima. Depressed with his homeless situation, he decided to start a coffee bar, which later turned into this remarkable little restaurant. He named it after the city where his twin brother lives. The story of Los Angeles is one of animal friendliness, great food and of perseverance. Visit this place!

Amazing place!! - Edit

So happy to have found this place! Everything was vegan, and delightfully tasty. The owners understand the concept of vegan and vegetarian so you can enjoy a delicious meal with no concern for hidden animal ingredients. Very close to the beautiful castle grounds so prefect for a quick breakfast, tasty lunch, or in our case a lovely dinner right next to our appartment. One of the best meals I've had in Japan so far!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Not over priced , Wonderful staff

Super nice staff and delicious food - Edit

I was there for breakfast and dinner on the same day. I had an almond latte and a lemon muffin in the morning and for dinner the burger plate. I got a big salad, miso soup and the BBQ tempeh burger and for dessert the chocolate cake. I would recommend ordering some extra avocado or tomato for the burger, it has only the tempeh and zucchini but it was really good! It was my birthday that day and I got a little candle on my cake and she even sang happy birthday to me!! :)))

Pros: Delicious, reasonably priced, super nice staff

Cons: Nothing!

Awesome lunch set and Amazing muffins - Edit

The owner is a very lovely lady who takes great pride and care in her food. Everything was amazing and fresh. My partner and I both had salad, soup, burgers and muffins. The ginger burger was absolutely delicious!

They also serve good coffee. We tried the non caffeine brown rice coffee and it was perfect with our mango jam and strawberry jam muffins!

Great stop in if you're near Kanazawa castle or the gardens :)

Pros: All Vegan. Great food!

Cons: Each part if the set comes out at separate times s

Fantastic - Edit

I had dinner there everyday during my 4 days stay in Kanazawa. The owner/cook is not only a kind person but he's also very interested in cooking healthy food.
I had the salad (large and medium) and the ginger burger plate as well. I immediately felt the freshness of the ingredients! If you love sweets, the muffins are also tasty.
The restaurant is located in front of the famous Kenrokuen park which is very convenient and it's easy to find.
I'll definitely come again when I'll come back in Kanazawa.

Pros: fresh food, nice staff, good value

Lovely - Edit

Was great to finally eat vegan food that wasn't onigiri! We had the ginger steak burger and the chicken teriyaki burger which were tasty. The price was reasonable - I had a burger (with extra avocado), a drink and a cake for about 1500yen. There is a good selection of drinks to choose from (more than most normal places) and there is a small amount of health products/tea/coffee for sale. There was also raspberry ice-cream on the menu for 400 yen.
For or anyone who has been living in Japan - she uses real bread for the burger buns! It is delicious.

Pros: Chilled/comfortable, Good food

Not as Amazing as expected but still great - Edit

This is a friendly, super clean, well-serviced restaurant with a nice interior. The staff seem to be so serious about serving customers well, it felt a bit too much for us coming from areas with more laid back restaurants. The staff clearly can't help it. They don't speck English very well, but communicate and care enough through actions.

We visited twice as the location and hours are optimal. We had the Ramen, ginger steak, chicken teriyaki burger, and ginger steak burger. The burgers seem like a better deal, we are not experts in them, but they were good enough. I enjoyed the ramen, but felt it could be a bit more salty (my partner accuses me of being a salt addict. I am a runner though). They are happy to let people share, and seem comfortable with letting the customer dictate what they want (versus some places that demand you must order a drink, or you can't share). I found it recommended, the reviews are a tad superfluous and while praise is well-merited, we weren't blown away as some reviews led us to believe. Prices are quite reasonable. You will find it hard to find anything this place doesn't do well. Please enjoy!

Pros: very kind attentive staff, Good variety on menu

Love this place!!! - Edit

Had the best experience ever here. Such great omotenashi by the awesome owner. As a raw vegan, I've been living off of mikan (Japanese mandarin oranges) and combini salads here in Japan. I was so surprised to find this place right outside my airbnb (the apartments next door!). I talked with the owner (I can speak Japanese) and found out we have so much in common! The owner and the staff are the friendliest, warmest people ever! They accommodated my raw vegan diet and served me a beautiful, fresh, organic salad with raw tomato soup. I also ordered a special Christmas raw vegan desert made with special Kanazawa strawberries which was absolutely divine! The owner even lent me some extra umbrellas for my family to use and offered to hold our luggage for a few hours after we check out of our airbnb and explore Kanazawa tomorrow. I'm definitely coming back for breakfast tomorrow morning! Thank you so much LA in Kanazawa for one of my loveliest experiences in Japan so far!

Exactly the kind of vegan business that deserves your support - Edit

The owner of this little restaurant is a fantastically friendly guy doing a great job with this place.

The food was great, as many others have mentioned, but I also thought this was pretty good value too. If you head there for lunch, you can get yourself a couple of courses of food, a HUGE salad and a delicious dessert. Oh, and great imported Intelligentsia coffee to top it off. All for less than JPY2000 per person.

Anyone who thinks that's pricey should check out how expensive it is to buy good quality vegetables in a Japanese supermarket.

In all, just a great place and I can't speak highly enough of the people behind it. Definitely one of my favourite places in Kanazawa!

Vegan delight - Edit

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. Ordered the teriyaki chicken set and tempura burger set. Both were absolutely delicious and I love how each course was served separately. Salad was big and hearty. Had the raw vegan cheesecake for dessert which was divine and a banana muffin. The owner is super friendly too! We had a good chat about vegan food/places in Japan and he told us about his twin brother who runs a vegan restaurant in LA. He even gave us a free bag of rusk cookies to have for breakfast the next day. Will definitely be returning at least one more time before we leave Kanazawa.

Pros: lots of options , has vegan desserts

Good Vegan Option in Kanazawa - Edit

They mostly have burgers and salad sets. The food is alright for the price, but the muffins are definitely worth a try.

They're also trying to open up at night more often, so check out their Facebook page for updates.

Delicious Food, Friendly People - Edit

Stopped by here after finding it on Happycow. We had the Teriyaki burger and Pita sandwich combo both very delicious! Also got the chance to try the chocolate chip, banana, and lemon muffins, the chocolate chip was the best. We had a nice chat with the owner who was super friendly, he let us know his brother also has a vegan restaurant in LA, which we are definitely going to try when in that area. He also gave us a free muffin! Would recommend this place to anyone.

Pros: Friendly, Delicious, Cute Place

Cons: None

Excellent salad, weird atmosphere - Edit

I was very excited about this place given the good reviews but it was overall a letdown, especially given the price, which is on the higher end for a set lunch (even a vegetarian one) in Japan.

We both ordered burger sets so I had the chance to taste the ginger burger and the teriyaki one. The ginger burger didn't really taste like ginger, but it was overall a decent burger. The teriyaki chickn burger had a very weird texture, it was quite hard to chew, I literally felt like I was about to choke several times. It was also overall kinda bland. I also had a nut muffin that was also bland. It definitely lacked some vanilla essence or another flavouring ingredient.

Also, the service felt very rushed, even tough the restaurant wasn't full.

The good thing about this place though, is the salad, which is excellent. It is also quite big, which may explain the price of the set lunch.

Pros: Excellent salad

Cons: bit expensive
