No Fuss Comfort Food - Edit

Any Perth locals who have had the opportunity to eat at Lord of the Fries in Melbourne or Sydney will know pretty much what to expect.

Lord of the Fries doesn't pretend to be health food, and nor should it. Sometimes as a vegan or vegetarian, all one wants is a hearty mock meat burger or hot dog, chased down with some hot chips and the sauce of your choice. This is where LoTF delivers. It's not gourmet, it's not a sublime experience in the art of vegan cooking- but it doesn't have to be to hit the spot.

The major pitfall of this as the one and only WA location for the franchise is that there is no seating available at all. In a CBD with very little in the way of public seating, this can pose a major problem for customers. Hopefully this location will prove successful enough for them to expand to a store with room for seating- even if it's just a bar and some stools.

Pros: Consistent food quality, Just right for a junk food hit

Cons: No available seating, Small storefront on a crowded street

Vegan Junk Food central - Edit

Prices are a lil more than i love but for most people they'll be fine. Good sized burgers and serving sizes, good range of sauces and solid sides. Tasty and open times are perfect.

Pros: tasty, open times, serving size

Cons: no where to sit, paying for sauces

Glad to have LOTF in Perth! - Edit

My excitement was real when I heard that Lord of the Fries was opening up a store in Perth, and at that, centrally in the city!

When I went I ordered an original "beef" burger, topped with cheese, lettuce, sliced onion, tangy pickle, Belgian Mayo, mustard and ketchup, veganised by replacing the cheese with vegan cheese, and an amazing peanut butter milkshake. The meal was a bit more expensive than I thought it would be, but still worth buying.

The burger and milkshake tasted a lot like a "normal" burger and milkshake would do, but doesn't leave you feeling as sluggish and gross as it is genuinely slightly healthier than the animal version.

Although I wouldn't regularly consume (as it is unhealthy) I would go to LOTF to get my junk food fix in times of need, as well as being a handy option when in the city centre as there are very few options there.

One of the biggest cons is that there is no seating, but I guess there are lots of spaces to sit in the city itself, albeit not as comfortable as sitting in a café/restaurant would be.

Pros: Vegan junk food!!, Tastes really good

Cons: No seating, A bit more expensive than expected

Lord of the Fries - Edit

I was mentioned this place as being vegan friendly! All I saw was many types of meaty burgers, not even sure if the fries are cooked in a good plant based oil. I don't know why it was posted on this site. certainly may have a lentil burger didn't see that yesterday. Nothing vegan here. I found better options to spend my money to support more vegan places.

Pros: nothing vegan here, cooked in vegan appliances ??

Cons: Certainly NOT vegan, Standing on the pavement eating??

ProfessorXVX 09 Dec 2016 - All burgers, dogs, nuggets and fries are vegan. What appears to be meat isn't at all. Just make sure to ask for it vegan because they do offer dairy cheese for vegetarians.

Vegan fast food in Perth - Edit

Hits the spot when you're after junk food that doesn't hurt any animals.

I love that almost everything can be made vegan if you ask for vegan cheese.

No cow's milk used for coffees either, so ovo-lacto vegos beware your coffee will come with soy.

Pros: Vegan junk food, Cheap, Lots of vegan options

Cons: Vegan options not clearly marked, As unhealthy as you expect, Nowhere to sit

Vegan fast food - Edit

If fast food is what you're looking for, lord of the fries is where you'll find it. Everything is vegetarian and can be made vegan (the vegan cheese is soo good), and they're open late late on Friday and Saturday nights, perfect after a night out! The burgers are delicious, the chips (with so many sauce options!) are great, and the onion rings are fantastic. It is NOT healthy food, it is delicious, unhealthy vegan junk food, which is sometimes exactly what you need!

Pros: Vegan fast food, Central location, Poutine fries

Cons: No seating

Not bad. - Edit

There is A LOT of hype about this place. I have been 3 times, trying different food each time - the food is alright, not bad, but nothing special. The c&c milk shake in particular though, is incredible - if nothing else I recommend getting one.

Pros: Fast, Relatively cheap, The c&c milkshake!

Cons: Tastes like stereotypical "fast food", No seating/place to eat

99% of the menu can use vegan alternatives - Edit

This place is awesome. I've visited it twice now in two weeks.

Ordering: After spending 5 minutes on the initial time clarifying what they mean by "vegan" and "veganified", we delightfully ordered. From memory, everything except the "hot melted cheese" everything can be made with vegan cheese, things like mayo and sour cream and their patties are vegan anyway. Upon the second time, they actually have a laminated piece of paper saying exactly which items are suitable for which diets. Upon the second time, we were able to just say "We are vegans, and would like the vegan versions of everything we order. We'd like ..." and that was enough for them to do the replacements.

Food: We've had the Spicy, Chicken, Guru burgers in Big size, as well as the Sweet Potato chips in Large size, as well as a Cookies & Cream smoothy. My friend really loved the Chicken burger over the Spicy. I really enjoyed the Spicy over the Guru. However I did find the beef patties to be a bit too consistent in flavour despite an appealing texture (my friend agreed). I did find the Guru patty appealing in taste, but not that appealing in texture. I'll order the Spicy again. The Sweet Potato chips are plentiful in the large size, and the sauce is also plenty. The various sauces are all good, so no matter what you get, it will still be yummy. The Sweet Potato chips savoury taste can be a pit overpowering, however I'd prefer overpowering flavour to underpowering flavour any day. The smoothy was really nice, although could have been more indulgent, as was more a milk shake than a smoothy. The burgers alone are not enough to fill me, but are enough to quench my hunger. The large chips will fill me, so best split between two or more.

Price: The price is too high for me to make this an everyday thing, but if your vegan snack bag expires or you are stuck in the city, it great to be able to get some guaranteed vegan food that isn't contaminated in the making with non-vegan ingredients like your average kebab and fries options at less ethical establishments. So if you are stuck out in the city, and hungry, this has become my go to place.

Overall: This is a solid place to have enjoyable tasty food at a vegan-friendly establishment in the city.

Pros: vegan, tasty, convenient

Cons: pricey
