Hallelujah my sweet Lord - no animals slaughtered or abused for this food!

It’d been more than 10 years since I last went to a LOTF. I’m just not keen on all the disposable packaging that comes with fast food. However, I realised I’m lucky enough to live near (what I believe to be) the only LOTF where you can sit down at a table. It turned out I could request all my orders in baskets without any throwaway bits of paper. On my first visit I tried the Biggie (gangsta! 🤣) which was not bad but had a high proportion of bread to filling. Next time I tried the Lot and the Big Kahuna, both delicious, particularly the latter, with its bacon flavour, albeit with sweetish condiments. Both classic and shoestring fries were pretty good, and I kept it safe with mayo and aioli as my sauces of choice. I finished off my friend’s classic hotdog and it wasn’t bad but just a little bready and dry. LOTF has improved a lot since the days it used animal abuse products and I realise I’ve been overloooking it as an option when it fact it’s good for a feed every now and then.

Pros: No animal slaughter or abuse involved in food prep, Delicious Lot and Big Kahuna burgers and fries, Option for no disposable packaging at this outlet

Cons: Biggie burger and hotdog a little dry

You can sit in the King St branch too if you’re in the cbd. I will give this branch another try, they seemed to be missing a number of items when I last visited.

Definitely trying to support the vegan ones.

Sorry @Kittybiscuit I deleted the original comment you were replying to so I could correct the typos:

Same with this one. Like many businesses, particularly in hospitality, I think it has been hit hard and struggling. A lot of us are feeling the pinch of the CLC but if we have a bit of luxury money left over I think spending some of it at a local/small vegan business is a good idea (if not the magic solution).

There's one at Barkly Square in Brunswick (my local) with seating too ☺️

@tardis3 - Yeah it’s a new thing at the Fitzroy restaurant. New management are making some changes.

Pretty good

Pretty good fast food place and amazing that it’s vegan. Where it lost the star for me is the use of cold fries (although I am also anti food waste.,. what’s the solution?) and the bread that was used for my hot dog, which was pretty stale. Apart from that, I think I would come back to try some more of the food given the time.

Really nice food but some items unavailable

I’ve been here a few times, most recently last night. I saw an ad for a new burger “surf n turf” but they didn’t have the phish pattie so it was unavailable. I ordered the parma and shared some onion fries with my partner. He ordered the lot. I asked for a shake but they weren’t making them. Last time I went during Covid, they didn’t have shakes either. Maybe they don’t have shakes at this branch.
Anyway the burgers were both really nice and hot. The onion rings were crispy. Staff were nice too.

Pros: Crispy onion rings, Nice staff

Cheap food, cheap taste

I had heard a lot about this chain, so maybe expectations were high.. But my experience here was quite unpleasant. Neither did I enjoy the taste of the mock meat, nor of burger buns or fries. Also, I would have wished for more veggies in a burger than plain iceberg lettuce.

On top of that, the interior of the restaurant was dirty and smelly.

Staff was sweet, though. And prices here are comparably cheap... But so was the quality.

Lord of the Fries is a chain that is common in Melbourne. Most stores offer food only for take-out, but this particular branch even offers seating.

Pros: nice staff, low prices

Cons: taste, dirty and smelly restaurant, unpleasant atmosphere

Had a very quick bite at this Lord of the Fries. Nuggets were ok, lbut tacos were missing something 🤔
Maybe we should have ordered a burger instead 🤷🏻‍♀️

Quick and easy fast food.

It's tasty stodgy food, and it's usually pretty good!

Poutine topping is always delicious, especially if you get the sweet potato fries. The Mexican style salsa and jalapeno topping just makes everything a bit soggy and cold, I'd steer clear. The Parisian sauce is good though!

The chilli egg muffin is great for a snack, the Mac and cheese bites are good as well. Any burger you get will benefit from being upgraded to beyond which does make every burger more expensive.

The chicken and waffle is good, as was the jam and peanut butter chicken burger they did. Hot dogs are average in my opinion but my other half loves them.

Shakes are basic milky shakes rather than thick ice cream, spiders are good though.

Pros: Loads of customisation, Quick and easy , Mostly tasty

Cons: Can get expensive if upgrading sauces and burgers, Shakes aren't the best

The Best

Lord of the Fries can honestly do no wrong in my eyes.
The food is always tasty and their menu is incredible.
I'll be honest it's not my favourite of their locations in Melbourne because the King St staff blow them out of the water but it's still great nonetheless, and in a very convenient location right on Brunswick St.

Pros: All vegan, Tasty food, Good location

1 star if happycow would let me

I have eaten here 4 times so far and have found no consistency. The first time I ate here the burger was dry and bland and the fries appeared to be the dregs out of about 3 bags (the small blackened pieces), they should never have been served.

The second and third times were average and uninspiring.

The fourth time... why did I come back o.O

Burgers on Brunswick

For $9.50 - $11, some pretty decent burgers can be had (e.g. today I had the Parma with lettuce added, which was delightful), and *ONE* is generally sufficient for a daytime appetite!! There’s also the option of wholemeal buns (*when* they’re available).

Pros: all vegan, dine-in option, wholemeal bun option

Cons: at times the burgers can be bland and tasteless, hit-and-miss service (mostly good), *negligible* salad

Perfect for the junk food lover

I mean it’s obvious, but if you want really unhealthy vegan stuff that tastes just the way you want it to, there’s no better place.

Awesome Menu, little down on taste

First I was amazed by the variety of food. I ordered a burger with fries and European Belgium Sauce. The taste then was a bit disappointing. Fries were good, but also the sauce tasted greasy.
The Egg n Ham Toast wasn’t better as well. I think that with some spices and better setting the food would be way better!

Pros: Cheap, A lot of stuff, Quick serving

Cons: A bit too tasteless (I’m vegan)

Mushy and a Bit Sickly

I’m not a big fan of LOTF. It’s probably because I’m not keen on “fakes” but even the chips and other dishes not pretending to be meat are over sauced and it always gives me the impression they are hiding something! I know a lot of people love it, including my 16 year old daughter which makes me feel like it might be a “young person” thing and I’m just a bit behind the times. If you like vegan junk food, then this is the place for you.

Pros: All vegan menu

Cons: Overly sauced

Vegan Fast Food!

LOTF is the lord for vegan fast food lol.

Love their burgers & their smoothies are so addictive!

This outlet situated in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy offers seating while most other outlets mainly focus in takeouts. Service is good, food & drink quality sometimes is inconsistent ~ could be better if I have to compare it to other outlets.

A worry

A quiet night yet unexpectedly slow service was received. Items were brought out one at a time with two items needing prompting...

My Chicago Dog which I have ordered previously from several other outlets, was squished to the size of a wrap and gushing with sauces/relish.

Cons: Poorly trained staff, Lack of standardisation between stores, Not cheap

Could be better..

I love Lord of the Fries, a good place for grab-n-go vegan fast food! This branch provide seatings, staffs are friendly. However, somehow they failed to make my all time favourite milkshake as tasty as other LOTF branches. I'd have visited other vegan restaurants in this area unless I am left with no choice.

Nice Vegan Burgers - Pricy

Lord of the fries is tasty dirty food. The chips are good but I think the burgers are better. Good selection but a little bit expensive for what you get I think.

Best place for cheap vegan eats after a gig

it's really convenient considering that it's open til 4am and things like the mini burger are only $5. I often find myself going there after shows cause I know that they'll always satisfy and they're always open.

Pros: open til really late, well priced, Good vegan options

Cons: can take a while if busy

great for taste, not so much your health

Not the healthiest of vegan options on Brunswick but it's a much better alternative to fast food. Very tasty. I fool my omnivore friends a few times bringing them here without knowing its vego and they love it!

Pros: Vegan options Full of flavour Burgers are bigger (

Cons: Not so healthy
