Limited Options - Edit
Cool place and great for a catch up and drinks with friends but the vegan options are very limited. The Lombok salad is what I had for lunch and there really only was this or the vegan pizza offered as vegan. The salad however was delicious and I would recommend it but it would be nice to have other options!

Read moreWe came for the vegan pizza but were really disappointed they don't serve it with vegan cheese. It's got nice vegetables on top with pesto and a smashed avocado dollop in the center, but is mainly salad leaves. It tasted ok but not the same without the cheese.
I asked why they don't do vegan cheese and apparently they don't like working with it and they don't think it leads to a pizza at a level they feel comfortable serving. I said that for vegans, we are happy with vegan cheese (not really keen on non-vegans deciding what is good for me to eat or not) even if it is different to what they think it should be. It was explained to me they have made a definite decision not to have vegan cheese in their kitchen so that is that.
The pizza was nice enough despite no cheese but I personally would have enjoyed it a lot more if it had had some vegan cheese. And it would have been more filling with cheese. Ah well.

Always seems such a lazy cop-out to me that places will just remove a few ingredients and still charge full price for it - the Thai place in this town is much better catered

THE BEST vegan pizza on Kapiti Coast! - Edit
I had the only vegan pizza, the Giardino on the menu (though sure they'd make most dairy free if asked). Loads of spinach and mushroom topped with vegan cream cheese. Service and venue was brill too - highly recommend!
