A restaurant with a high end feel without feeling pretentious - lovely plating, creative and unique dishes and served with explanations of the various components of the dishes. I was impressed with the attentive service and the creativity and thought put into the menu. I ordered the Cocido and enjoyed the flavours and the texture of the ‘beef’, but didn’t find it particularly filling and would have preferred less oil drizzled over it.

I've been meaning to venture across the Yarra to try Lona Misa for a while now, so I was stoked when my partner took me here for my birthday. We got the set menu and I'd definitely recommend it, the range of dishes was good with a lot of different, vibrant flavours and textures, and a good balance between fake meat (we had a seitan dish and a mushroom based meat dish) and vegetable forward options. The smokey flavour throughout some of the dishes was superb. The vibe is good - relaxed enough to feel comfortable but fancy enough to elevate the experience. Really good service from all the staff here too, attentive and knowledgeable, but unobtrusive. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol it can be hit and miss with drinks when dining out, but they have a decent bunch of thoughtful options and I thoroughly enjoyed the no-jito. No photos to add due to being completely absorbed in the moment, but the presentation did the food justice - beautiful but unpretentious. This is a lovely place to come for a special occasion, absolutely worth crossing the river for!

Champinones espanole: delicious hearty rich sauce, may be a touch too much sweetness, would have liked the grilled focaccia on the side, as they got quite soggy being under the mushrooms
Queso con chorizo: delicious cheesy mince dip with corn chips (bit too hard for me)
Poblano + parmesan croquettas: great crispy exterior, would love it to be gooier inside

Mind blown by the impressive menu and innovation! This is not your typical vegan restaurant and it feels a step above the rest. This is the standard all vegan restaurants should adhere to. The creativity and decor are inspiring and oh yeah, the food - fantastic! The chicken was smoky and so realistic. The seafood dish was also fab! Can’t wait to come back!

They don’t greet you when you walk in, or provide much attentive service other than taking your order. Sometimes just don’t bring things at all.
I really wish there were more vegan chefs in Melbourne, this place feels typical of Shannon Martinez’s feelings on vegans. Won’t be coming again.
Tourists- check out Sable across the river instead.

have heard people rave about lona misa but know she’s a little more fancy so took the opportunity to have a special dinner here.. we had the guacamole, sandia nikkei, patatas bravas, tatela, and peri peri chicken. they were all fine but felt like there was nothing special about them. obviously a more fine dining experience but we all agreed the best thing was the chips and guac…which is hard to mess up. the venue is beautiful and service was good so if you want a nice night out, go for it but don’t expect the best meal of your life x

We had a special occasion to celebrate and I had read the reviews, although not been here before. As the only vegan (and one making the booking) I saw it as an opportunity to showcase how exceptional vegan food can be.
It did not disappoint. There was a lot of pleasant humming as food was tasted. It exceeded all of our expectations. Beautifuly presented and timed such that there was time between dishes. Everything was delicious. Even the crumble was next level, with gold trimmings (literally).
Our waiter was charming and attentive. He took care to explain that the menu was all plant based, and his recommendations on the approach and quantity to order.. He was great at topping up glasses, clearing the table and ensuring we had everything we needed. We felt very looked after.
I found the ambience calming and spacious. There was plenty of space between tables, so everyone at the table could be heard.
Lona Misa is a great place for celebrations, but also wonderful just for dining out. It may just be my new fav.

Had the set menu at Lona Misa and was honestly blown away by the quality of the food. At $88 per head for food both the quality and quantity of food served was top tier, we loved everything about it. You can tell that the dishes selected were done so carefully and in a way so as to compliment each other, cannot speak higher of the food.

As for ambiance the venue has an amazing vibe and awesome interesting decor. Definitely suitable for a nicer date night or special dinner.
Only small downside was potentially the service, we did not find it of similar quality to other 'finer' dining experiences like Smith and daughters or even a slightly less expensive experience like Transformer.
Unfortunately our server wasn't on the ball with swapping plates inbetween courses and we felt like we struggled to get attention of the servers despite many of them being huddled around the bar doing seemingly little. Our server also unfortunately wasn't perfectly aware of which beers were vegan which you would expect given the venue.
Overall amazing, don't think you can go wrong here

Loved loved loved the food. I couldn’t fault any of it. The chicken was amazing, the fish (omg), and the desserts - sooooo good! I’m only giving four stars though because the service was SO bad. My partner and I sat at our table waiting to be served for a long time, and no one came, so I ended up walking to the counter to pick up my own menus from the bar. Every time we wanted to order something, we had to flag and ask someone to do so. For a place that is quite nice with a tasting menu and fairly fancy food, I would expect better service, especially with the price.
