Not our favourite - Edit
Have been to Lona Misa twice; first time we got the set menu and most recently in August 2025 where we ordered a la carte. I'm firmly of the opinion that Lona Misa is overrated. Have found the mock meat to be somewhat uninspired compared to other Vegan restaurants nearby, which isn't great when you are paying this much for it. There are still some very nice dishes - would recommend steering away from the mock meat options and embracing the veg items.
Read moreThe restaurant does have a really nice vibe and great service, but at this price I'd like the food to be a bit more impressive. Go to Smith & Daughters instead imo.

This place deserves 10 stars! The food was incredibly creative and bursting with flavor — every dish felt like a piece of art. Definitely don’t skip the fried olives; I’ve never had anything like them anywhere, and I still dream about them daily. The tres leches is another absolute must-try — rich, light, and perfectly balanced. Everything from the presentation to the service was exceptional. A standout dining experience in Melbourne — worth every bite!

The set menu is so fun - Edit
Absolutely loved the set menu. The "chicken" is just ridiculously good. The waitress explained how they make it too. Super interesting. Is pricey but the experience is awesome for a date night or classy dinner with a friend. One of my fav vegan dinner spots in Melbourne. Sorry about the photos. We kept diving in before remembering a pic.

Great for dinner, not vegan/vego for breakfast - Edit
Cannot recommend more for dinner. Have been a few times and have yet to find a dish that I didn’t immensely enjoy. Must try the fried olives.
Read moreHowever really disappointing to see they no longer offer a vegan or even vegetarian menu for breakfast. Quite limited vegan options in fact for breakfast. Have confirmed that the dinner menu remains entirely plant-based, only the breakfast menu has changed.
Pros: Amazing plant-based dinner menu
Cons: Serves meat for breakfast

Vegan fine dining 🌱😋 - Edit
A great place for a night out, for a fine dining experience with friends or your significant other.
Read moreThe dishes were all high quality with great flavours. The two mushroom dishes we had whilst different were both excellent. The crispy and fried oyster/enoki mushrooms, and the meaty bbq’d oyster mushrooms.
Share plates, mains, desserts , cocktails, 100% vegan, so good.
Pros: Lovely flavours and textures , Variety and taste of their mushroom dishes, Cater for dietary reqs. Many GF dishes.

GF and VG tonight. Loved everything we got except the coconut seafood dish, tbh we couldn’t even eat it and that has never happened to me anywhere before. Noted that maybe I’m just not a fan of fish tasting things, so it could have been a me problem.

What ever happened to good quality vegan food that wasn’t trying to imitate meat all the time?

Lona misa has a wonderful atmosphere. The service, excellent. We luckily had the loveliest waitress who was able to describe the dishes in detail.
Read moreWe shared the croquettas, mutton skewers in a cheesy like sauce, arepa, saucy and flavourful patatas bravas, and a salty creamy crunchy Cesar salad. We topped it off with a decedent chocolate torte with olive oil ice cream.
Pros: The chocolate torte omg , The vibes of the restaurant , The crispy potatoes
Cons: Price is a bit steep, Portions are small for price , Mutton skewers were quite small

Good but expensive - Edit
The food tasted delicious, but I felt it was over priced, especially the bbq platter thing. We wanted to try other cheaper dishes but the staff told us they were very small. (and they were expensive for the size too) I guess they're just trying to be fancy? But it didn't feel that fancy for the price either. Another thing I was unhappy about is they don't write on the menu what can be made gluten free, so the staff had to go back and forth with the kitchen a few times so my friend could order, that could have been avoided if they simply put a couple letters on the menu. Also they brought out the wrong dish for us at one point and we had to wait ages for the right dish. Anyway the food tasted good and I'd probably come back but only on a rare special occasion I guess, but they have tough competition around Melbourne!

creative food and a fun vibe - Edit
i and one other person shared the croquettes, tostadas (11/10), pan con queso, tres leches (you need to try this), and the flan. nothing could have been better except the flan (the sauce is a bit bitter just be aware). fun and cool vibe and semi fancy i would say but not too much

A culinary experience. - Edit
I'm really glad I went once (ok three times). It's beyond unreasonably expensive for just food but it is more of an adventure in food than just a meal. That's what I tell myself as I regret the hole in my bank account anyway.
Read moreA lot of the time at restaurants I find myself thinking about how I can make it more to my liking at home. Not so at LonaMisa. The way they cook, their creativity and the standard of the meals are all beyond me.
I was pleased to have my first try of Lions Mane mushroom here. My partner had 'ANTICUCHOS' (mutton balls) which she swore were incredibly tender mutton but were in fact mushrooms.
The food is small in portion and costly so while it's still a good night out it's only somewhere I could go for a very occasional treat.
Pros: Creative, excellent food. Delicious beverages , Friendly staff , Intimate seating with a friendly, warm ambience
Cons: Unbelievably expensive. Far too expensive., Tiny portion size. I'm usually hungry after eating

A place that will make your day wonderful 💘 - Edit
Today was my second time having breakfast at LonaMisa. Both times, I was impressed by how friendly the staff was. Their service, delicious drinks, and beautiful breakfast are great ways to start your day. The interior is very cool, and it's great that they have a variety of seating styles. They let me choose a nice seat, but it's hard to decide where to sit. All of their menus are vegetarian, but they also have a lot of vegan options. I ordered pancakes last time and a chili Tofu plate this time. The presentation is so beautiful that it's a shame to eat it. But I still eat it. It's one of my favorite restaurants that I wish was closer to home. I'd like to have dinner there next time!

Splendid - Edit
Lona Miss is the latest venture of Shannon Martinez from Smith & Daughters. Shannon has made fake meat a true art, and the dishes at Lona Misa are impressive. My companion was an omnivore and commented that the mutton was better than the real thing, for example. The butter sauce apparently tasted very much like real butter too. It was difficult to choose a favourite dish to recommend as everything we had was incredible. The tasting menu would probably be something I’d do next time. While expensive, it’s nice to have the option of fine dining that’s 100% vegan. Great food for a special occasion.

Slightly underwhelmed - Edit
As a big fan of the OG smith & daughters I took my partner for her birthday dinner and maybe my expectations were too high but I left a little disappointed for quite expensive (birthday dinner so splashed out) the portions were fairly small and the dishes missed the Martinez witchcraft I was expecting. Service also wasn’t great as rather than telling us the kitchen close time visibly checked her watch while serving us, the restaurant at the time was full and we would’ve ordered faster if communicated we might be the last people ordering (a few tables seemed to walk in after us but only had dessert) greatly enjoyed the croquet, it was crispy and cheesy. The tartare which is their most promoted dish wasn’t great and had a odd texture, I was expecting more of a paste but it was coloured flavoured rice and crumbled so difficult to eat. Fried olives great, and something different but the caeser salad was very underwhelming for 5 pieces of barely sauced gem lettuce. the grill section the mutton skewers were unimpressive, dry and tiny, mushroom was good a great smoky crust but $32. The flan was great maybe that’s why people only came in for dessert Overall it missed the mark for me but was enjoyable enough, probably not in a rush to go back.
