Latin inspired vegetarian restaurant by the creators of Smith & Daughters, Smith & Deli, and Feed Your Soul. Reservations are not required but are recommended. Mostly vegan but serves dairy milk for drinks. Open Mon-Sun 7:00am-11:30am, Mon-Sat 5:00pm-11:00pm, Sat 12:00pm-3:00pm. Breakfast (6:30am-10:30am). All day dining menu (11:00am - 11:00pm). Dinner menu (Thur-Sat 5:30pm-11:00pm).

A place that will make your day wonderful 💘

Today was my second time having breakfast at LonaMisa. Both times, I was impressed by how friendly the staff was. Their service, delicious drinks, and beautiful breakfast are great ways to start your day. The interior is very cool, and it's great that they have a variety of seating styles. They let me choose a nice seat, but it's hard to decide where to sit. All of their menus are vegetarian, but they also have a lot of vegan options. I ordered pancakes last time and a chili Tofu plate this time. The presentation is so beautiful that it's a shame to eat it. But I still eat it. It's one of my favorite restaurants that I wish was closer to home. I'd like to have dinner there next time!

Excellent service but the food was a bit disappointing

Perhaps it was what I ordered but of the four items, only the Caesar salad is something I would get again. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly.

Splendid

Lona Miss is the latest venture of Shannon Martinez from Smith & Daughters. Shannon has made fake meat a true art, and the dishes at Lona Misa are impressive. My companion was an omnivore and commented that the mutton was better than the real thing, for example. The butter sauce apparently tasted very much like real butter too. It was difficult to choose a favourite dish to recommend as everything we had was incredible. The tasting menu would probably be something I’d do next time. While expensive, it’s nice to have the option of fine dining that’s 100% vegan. Great food for a special occasion.

The other thing I loved about this restaurant was its ambience. Finally somewhere that the music was in the background and I could have a conversation without raising my voice. Very enjoyable.

Very flavorful food!

Slightly underwhelmed

As a big fan of the OG smith & daughters I took my partner for her birthday dinner and maybe my expectations were too high but I left a little disappointed for quite expensive (birthday dinner so splashed out) the portions were fairly small and the dishes missed the Martinez witchcraft I was expecting. Service also wasn’t great as rather than telling us the kitchen close time visibly checked her watch while serving us, the restaurant at the time was full and we would’ve ordered faster if communicated we might be the last people ordering (a few tables seemed to walk in after us but only had dessert) greatly enjoyed the croquet, it was crispy and cheesy. The tartare which is their most promoted dish wasn’t great and had a odd texture, I was expecting more of a paste but it was coloured flavoured rice and crumbled so difficult to eat. Fried olives great, and something different but the caeser salad was very underwhelming for 5 pieces of barely sauced gem lettuce. the grill section the mutton skewers were unimpressive, dry and tiny, mushroom was good a great smoky crust but $32. The flan was great maybe that’s why people only came in for dessert Overall it missed the mark for me but was enjoyable enough, probably not in a rush to go back.

Amazing vegan latin food

I enjoyed all the dishes that we ordered. So creative with all the flavours and taste combinations. It’s something I’ve never had before. The place is also great and the service was good. Definitely worth it.

Pleasant Anniversary Treat

My partner and I received a gift voucher for this place recently. We booked in for our anniversary. The food was amazing and service was very good too. They were also accommodating to my allergies. Fairly $$$ so I recommend for a treat or an occasion such as a birthday 🎂 🥳

Pros: Amazing food, Good service, Funky vibe art vibe

Cons: Cost. Fairly $$$, Wish the serving sizes were slightly bigger

Excellent!

had the set menu with the matching wines. The wines were perfectly paired with the food! Highlights were the mutton skewers and peri peri chicken. Service was great and the food came out a good pace.

Delish and different

Really loved the food here. We had the seasonal tasting menu for $89pp $13 surcharge for the tartar. That was my least favourite dish, every thing else was amazing and so tasty!

Exquisite food

The chef’s menu with matching wines is delicious! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the wine. I have never tasted such a good Caesar salad before. The fake chicken was an eerily close to real chicken. I hate mushrooms generally but wow these ones packed in so much yummy flavour!!

Best vegan experience

I have done here twice…

The tartar was amazing and I would go back just for that. The pressed watermelon was to die for and my partner who is not vegan had the Portuguese chick’n.
Service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was very retro, shabby chic and Modern all in one. This is a go to for me.

Exemplary Vegan Fine Dining

From the expansive selection of flavours to the incredibly welcoming service - Lona Misa is a must for anyone looking to experience the absolute peak of plant based food.

Pros: True "fine dining" experience , Meticulously crafted dishes, Insanely huge collection of vegan wines

Cons: Pricy (but absolutely worth it)

@Tiggy. The food menu is all plant based. But you wouldn't know that as you probably haven't been, but you just want to virtue signal and shame vegetarian establishments like you have done with 2/3 of the vego listings on here including Smith & Deli.

I think what makes it vego is the non vegan bar drinks like Baileys.

HC description suggests dairy, one of the reviews suggests chicken egg, another one suggests butter, and now non-vegan alcohol is suggested too. The website states: "ALL LISTED COCKTAILS, WINES AND TAP PRODUCTS
ARE 100% VEGAN. FOR FURTHER DIETARY INFORMATION
REGARDING TOP SHELF SPIRITS, PLEASE ASK YOUR SERVER."
A quick check through the alcohol list shows alcohol that is definitely not vegan, and is not even vegetarian. The quoted text from the establishment clearly shows a lack of interest in veganism, and is why no one who cares would ask staff. Why would the staff know, if the management either do not know, or do not care?
Someone who lists themselves as 'mostly veg' on happycow, so... omni, has no reason to have any issue with any of those things, but also should not care if corrections are made, when reviewers call it vegan.

High end, creative and unique

A restaurant with a high end feel without feeling pretentious - lovely plating, creative and unique dishes and served with explanations of the various components of the dishes. I was impressed with the attentive service and the creativity and thought put into the menu. I ordered the Cocido and enjoyed the flavours and the texture of the ‘beef’, but didn’t find it particularly filling and would have preferred less oil drizzled over it.

Lovely for a special occasion

I've been meaning to venture across the Yarra to try Lona Misa for a while now, so I was stoked when my partner took me here for my birthday. We got the set menu and I'd definitely recommend it, the range of dishes was good with a lot of different, vibrant flavours and textures, and a good balance between fake meat (we had a seitan dish and a mushroom based meat dish) and vegetable forward options. The smokey flavour throughout some of the dishes was superb. The vibe is good - relaxed enough to feel comfortable but fancy enough to elevate the experience. Really good service from all the staff here too, attentive and knowledgeable, but unobtrusive. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol it can be hit and miss with drinks when dining out, but they have a decent bunch of thoughtful options and I thoroughly enjoyed the no-jito. No photos to add due to being completely absorbed in the moment, but the presentation did the food justice - beautiful but unpretentious. This is a lovely place to come for a special occasion, absolutely worth crossing the river for!

Always delicious options

Went here to celebrate an anniversary and everything we chose was delicious.

Cocido: standout, the beef was tasty and had a beautiful pull apart texture, complemented by the cauliflower puree. Didn't enjoy the root vegetable texture or taste (may have been swede or celeriac)
Champinones espanole: delicious hearty rich sauce, may be a touch too much sweetness, would have liked the grilled focaccia on the side, as they got quite soggy being under the mushrooms
Queso con chorizo: delicious cheesy mince dip with corn chips (bit too hard for me)
Poblano + parmesan croquettas: great crispy exterior, would love it to be gooier inside

Perfect for that special occasion.

We've been wanting to try Lona Misa for a while and it did not disappointment. The Tasting Menu gives a great opportunity to sample the 'amazingness' the chefs can produce. The staff were highly professional and the ambience is superb. We'll definitely be back.

Pros: 100% vegan menu, Amazing food !!!!, Highly professional service.

Food is amazing

We had the tasting course and everything is high end, delicious and delightful to the senses. Even the non alcoholic cocktail was divine. All served in good time. Was a great night out.
