Vibe was cool, food was gross - Edit
The restaurant is very cute and the rooftop seating is cool. You definitely pay for the view. Ordered a veggie burrito ($19) with no queso or sour cream, and they brought sour cream on my lettuce. The food was extremely bland, the veggies were over cooked to the point they were mush, the “cilantro lime rice” was comparable to green cardboard, and there was no salt or pepper to be found.
Read moreThere was a 3rd party photographer taking pictures for “free postcards” who then stood at our table and pressured us for 5 minutes to spend an extra $40 on printed and framed photos he took while we were at the table. If you’re into that kind of thing, it’s cool, but he refused to take no for an answer when I said we didn’t need the photos. He ended up refunding us afterward, which was nice.
My partner ordered veggie fajitas and ate a few bites, then threw up within 10 minutes after eating. We suspected the black beans (marketed as a fully vegan item) had meat fat/broth in them, and when we asked the manager for clarity, he had no clue how the beans were prepared and the cook was off site.
We ended up not having to pay for any of the food because they got sick and just tipped our waiter instead, because the wait staff was very kind, helpful, and quick to send back anything that wasn’t correct. When I told him we weren’t happy with the food, he said they get that complaint a lot about the “vegan” options because the meat dishes are their specialty. I would not waste my time or money going back here to eat.
Pros: Cool atmosphere, Nice waitstaff
Cons: EXPENSIVE but nice views from rooftop , Bland, flavorless food, Paparazzi

so yucky I threw up. no joke - Edit
The option to sit on a roof in Gatlinburg seems awesome until the food comes out.
Read moreThe fajita veggies were so overcooked they had no taste. Other than the few shakes on tajin on the top. The black beans tasted alright at first. the manager had no idea what was in them after I told him I threw up. I had a suspicion there was meat in them. Luckily only took a few bites. Also ordered a salad and asked for no sour cream- they didn't get that right. the rice was dry, again, with no flavor. There may only be a few vegan places in Gatlinburg but Loco Burro should be removed as a consideration.
Take this place off the list and someone please tell the manager to learn what goes on in the kitchen. It shouldn't be that hard. Sure the rooftop would be cool for drinks and chips and salsa if you really must go here.
I bet this is where the reject birds go to eat.
Pros: salsa, rooftop, locks on the bathroom for when you hurl
Cons: no one knows what goes in stuff, the rice was dry , just don't do it.

One vegan side dish. - Edit
Only thing that is vegan here is the "vegetarian beans." Everything else is made with either butter or animal fat. Even the grill is seasoned with butter so please don't support this business.

Nothing vegan - Edit
Stopped today based on reviews. Waitress asked chef twice what was vegan and he said literally nothing. There is butter in everything, including the tortillas. The best he could do was a salad with no dressing.

On the plus side, the waitress was super nice!

Tasty Food - Edit
Everything my family ordered was delicious, though we had a few problems with our food not coming out as specified and had to send one back. We were told there were two types of black beans, one cooked with pork and the other vegan, so we substituted those in the refried bean burrito and asked for no cheese. I enjoyed the veggie enchiladas with the green sauce (green, red, and ranchero sauces are vegan). The chips and salsa were so fresh and yummy!

Delicious Mexican food - Edit
I ordered the vegetarian fajitas. You have to ask for no sour cream and no Mexican butter. The server said the cilantro lime rice and the black beans were cooked vegan. The portion was very large, you definitely get a lot for your money!

Veggie enchiladas - Edit
Food is good but had a lot of errors trying to order vegan food. I ordered veggie enchiladas but first they brought out shrimp. The black beans have meat in them.

Not vegan friendly - Edit
It was important to my family to eat outside, since covid is still active and my daughter is too young to get vaccinated yet. We gave our name and number, and we were called in within the time they told us. The host tried to seat us inside. I let her know that we definitely requested and needed outside. She had us go up some green steps to a rooftop bar area. It was a nice view, but honestly kind of smelly for some reason. But it was a really hot day, and everyone was so hungry. The chips and salsa were really really good, especially the salsa IMO. I ordered the veggie fajitas and let the server know I’m vegan, and asked about how the rice and beans are cooked. He said plain black beans are ok and the cilantro white rice. Then my fajitas came. The veggies weren’t exactly “fajita’d” more like raw tomatoes w fajita seasoning sprinkled on it. The beans and rice were ok. I was handed a dish w sour cream, guac, and pico too. The server caught the sour cream mistake and said he’d get one without it. It never came. Then! I went to pick up a piece of squash w my fork, and there was a piece of chicken. I let them know. The server was super apologetic and upset w the kitchen staff. Then the mgr came over and took it off the bill, and asked if I wanted anything else to eat. I was def still hungry but had zero interest in eating anything else from there.
